Project ... 'TAKE-OVER'
Well Gents ... I'm back into the PT world
When a 'too good to be true' opportunity presents itself sometimes you just have to say F$#! it, and jump right in. Back story ... My good buddy has been working on this car for the past 5 years, he's spent a TON of $$$ on it and a LOT of $$$ in parts. Body and paint is an absolute 10/10 (as you can see) but he's run out of steam and called me on Friday to see if I wanted to take this project over and I said "Hell yes !!". I went to see the car with my mechanic / builder yesterday and even he was shocked to see just how incredible this car is .... So, overall objectives for this car; Complete this car in the next 6-8 months Possibly bring it to Detroit 2025 & Motorama Toronto Then it will be SOLD Build Hi-lites Elite Show car quality build Black on Red LS3 / Edelbrock Cross Ram engine DSE front and SpeedTech rear Wilwoods front & Rear LOTS of cool sh&! Super excited for this journey So lets get started with some pics ... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8c23bf64_k.jpgIMG_2910 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b320b3dd_k.jpgIMG_8887 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d693dc4d_k.jpgIMG_2905 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...bf19b0c7_k.jpgIMG_2903 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a8e0af74_k.jpgIMG_2909 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...77f89c55_k.jpgIMG_2899 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b23c3111_k.jpgIMG_8944 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |

Lots and lots of parts .... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f06228ad_k.jpgIMG_8945 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a2530d42_k.jpgIMG_8943 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...dd49b644_k.jpgIMG_8942 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
Can't wait to see this finished!
I'm extra excited to know what you think of the cross-ram intake. A few years ago I read (and watched) about that improving power (Edelbrock's site: "Dyno testing resulted with gains of 27 horsepower and 28 ft-lbs. of torque over a popular aftermarket manifold."). It's not "cheap" but it looks really cool and is almost guaranteed to be different than the other LS cars at the show. |

I'm hoping to get that moving along very soon https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...22db3e1d_b.jpgScreenshot 2024-05-28 at 6.24.09 AM by Steve Heck, on Flickr VERY cool custom carbon hood louvers that the shop made https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...2e9483e4_k.jpgIMG_2688 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
Nice acquisition on the Camaro. Should be fun!!
|
Oh, man. That's a gorgeous car. The wheels are a great choice. You have to keep those so long as the hoops fill out the wells properly.
I dig the cross ram intake, too. I would change the color though. Red isn't a bad choice. I think with the subtle strip and machined wheels, a more subtle color would be best for the engine though. Best of luck on it, Steve. I know you'll make it great no matter what you choose. |
Thanks Trey !
I am choosing to do a 'almost' full red interior ... thus the red pop in the engine bay. I want to open that hood and have the cross-ram make a statement, that's the jewel of the car. Lets see how it comes out, if it too much its an easy paint fix Question ... did you run the dual throttle bodies by wire or cable ?? If electronically which computer setup did you run ?? Cheers Steve |
That will tie together nicely then, Steve.
I haven't run the dual throttle body arrangement. |
LOL .... sorry Trey, I misread dig for did !!
Cheers Steve |
Time to come home ... Picked her up and all the stuff that goes with her.

Subscribing!
This is going to be an "Out of this WORLD" build! Looking forward to what you have planned for it. |
Thank you Matt
I know its just another 1st Gen build, 'been there done that' so many times here on Lateral G and the fact that there are so many incredible builders (shops) doing extraordinary things BUT ... I believe the true beauty of this build and my vision is the simplicity, overall focus on design and functionality, selection of components and materials that will make this car a standout both to look at and to drive. We will see !! Cheers Steve |
I love going through Skip's thread of just car pics. You see so many variations on "pro-touring" builds. I'm reminded of the various design styles as they changed through the years. Some of those styles did not age well. The cars that I like the most are the ones that stayed true to the original designs and just tweaked and polished them. I don't think you can go wrong with that route for a build ever.

Ok So .... Seems that the ONLY set of headers that will work with this setup and clear the steering linkage is the set from SpeedTech themselves, and for those that are interested I found out yesterday that Ultimate Headers build the headers for Speedtech.
Cheers Steve |
Ultimate Headers are awesome company to deal with. Very customer oriented.

We are getting there and cannot be happier the way this is looking ... engine is in !!

Kind of a big update ... after a few months of searching for the perfect red leather for the enterior, I found it !!
I was close with the leather on the bottom, but found the leather on top at a local provider https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...021334b_4k.jpgIMG_5357 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...af77588_4k.jpgIMG_5356 by Steve Heck, on Flickr A couple of these Hydes will be sent over to New Jersey for 'basket weave' embossed, similar to my 77' 911 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...406d0311_k.jpgIMG_1304 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5529440_3k.jpgIMG_2517 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
