Project ... 'TAKE-OVER'

Well Gents ... I'm back into the PT world
When a 'too good to be true' opportunity presents itself sometimes you just have to say F$#! it, and jump right in.

Back story ... My good buddy has been working on this car for the past 5 years, he's spent a TON of $$$ on it and a LOT of $$$ in parts. Body and paint is an absolute 10/10 (as you can see) but he's run out of steam and called me on Friday to see if I wanted to take this project over and I said "Hell yes !!". I went to see the car with my mechanic / builder yesterday and even he was shocked to see just how incredible this car is ....

So, overall objectives for this car;
Complete this car in the next 6-8 months
Possibly bring it to Detroit 2025 & Motorama Toronto
Then it will be SOLD

Build Hi-lites
Elite Show car quality build
Black on Red
LS3 / Edelbrock Cross Ram engine
DSE front and SpeedTech rear
Wilwoods front & Rear
LOTS of cool sh&!

Super excited for this journey

So lets get started with some pics ...

Can't wait to see this finished!

I'm extra excited to know what you think of the cross-ram intake. A few years ago I read (and watched) about that improving power (Edelbrock's site: "Dyno testing resulted with gains of 27 horsepower and 28 ft-lbs. of torque over a popular aftermarket manifold."). It's not "cheap" but it looks really cool and is almost guaranteed to be different than the other LS cars at the show.

No it's not cheap ... and the computer to run the dual throttle bodies is DEFINITELY NOT cheap .. don't even ask !! And Juggernaut you are spot on ... you do this to stand out from the rest, not for more power. I think simply this is going to look awesome

Cheers

Morning Ryan ... unfortunately the FJ55 is stuck in body/pain jail.
I'm hoping to get that moving along very soon

Nice acquisition on the Camaro. Should be fun!!

WSSix 05-28-2024 07:34 PM

Oh, man. That's a gorgeous car. The wheels are a great choice. You have to keep those so long as the hoops fill out the wells properly.

I dig the cross ram intake, too. I would change the color though. Red isn't a bad choice. I think with the subtle strip and machined wheels, a more subtle color would be best for the engine though.

Best of luck on it, Steve. I know you'll make it great no matter what you choose.

Sheck44 05-29-2024 03:34 AM

Thanks Trey !
I am choosing to do a 'almost' full red interior ... thus the red pop in the engine bay. I want to open that hood and have the cross-ram make a statement, that's the jewel of the car.
Lets see how it comes out, if it too much its an easy paint fix

Question ... did you run the dual throttle bodies by wire or cable ?? If electronically which computer setup did you run ??

Cheers
Steve

WSSix 05-31-2024 05:59 PM

That will tie together nicely then, Steve.

I haven't run the dual throttle body arrangement.

Sheck44 06-01-2024 03:29 AM

LOL .... sorry Trey, I misread dig for did !!
Cheers
Steve

New seats arrived, and I have to admit that these are VERY impressive.
Very well constructed, SUPER comfortable and include lumbar support !!
Of course these will be stripped and re-upholstered in red leather ... with some very cool touches

Subscribing!

This is going to be an "Out of this WORLD" build! Looking forward to what you have planned for it.

Sheck44 07-09-2024 03:34 AM

Thank you Matt

I know its just another 1st Gen build, 'been there done that' so many times here on Lateral G and the fact that there are so many incredible builders (shops) doing extraordinary things BUT ...

I believe the true beauty of this build and my vision is the simplicity, overall focus on design and functionality, selection of components and materials that will make this car a standout both to look at and to drive.

We will see !!

Cheers
Steve

I love going through Skip's thread of just car pics. You see so many variations on "pro-touring" builds. I'm reminded of the various design styles as they changed through the years. Some of those styles did not age well. The cars that I like the most are the ones that stayed true to the original designs and just tweaked and polished them. I don't think you can go wrong with that route for a build ever.

Trey, could NOT agree more .... My buddy Andrew is at Good Guys right now sending me pics, and some of it is just too much, too overdone.

I just found this thread and I hope you do the red interior. I have considered bidding on this car and I realized I don't need another car.

But it does have a bad ass "Red Interior" which you may or may not like.

Ok So .... Seems that the ONLY set of headers that will work with this setup and clear the steering linkage is the set from SpeedTech themselves, and for those that are interested I found out yesterday that Ultimate Headers build the headers for Speedtech.

Cheers
