Lateral-g project 455 or 350 olds

We are going to build Olds So is it 455 or 350 We have the good running 350 core in the car or we have a 1971 455 core for 175.00 The 455 is 100lbs more but has a higher base line and easier to hit our hp mark, but it is up to the poll.

Hey, if you're gonna be a bear, be a grizzly right? 455 for me.

455

no substitute for cubic inches unless you turbo charge.

Rob07002 09-22-2006 10:21 AM

455! no replacement for displacement!

T Bell 09-22-2006 11:21 AM

455 and then turn around and sell the 350. Unless you have a turbo.

Good call I think it is looking 455 I will put the engine for sale locally while it is still in the car running good and we might get our 175 back for the 455, I will let the poll decide

455, but make sure you get someone who knows these boat anchors and how to make them live, a normal rebuild on a 455 can throw rods like crazy. The side clearances need to be openned up, oiling system on the block reworked, etc.

We are currently working on a '71 442 and the original 455 is staying on the rack since it has so many dents on the oil pan (dents from the inside going out!) -Dan

Check out "CarCraft" November '06, page 39.

570 ft ponds of torque at 4000!!

It would probably be a decent way to build it. Everything is bolt on and all the part numbers and prices are listed.

If you need any of the specific's directly, email and I'll be happy to supply.
