II Much Revealed for 1st time in May PHR
Everyone should run out and buy the May issue of Popular Hot Rodding. John Parsons and John Ulazek worked to write and photograph a front suspension technical article based on John Parson's II Much project.
But suspension tech articles can be boring--too much theory and not enough practical application. This article is unique in that it brings theory to life. Drawings and diagrams become actual parts right before your eyes. Check out the photos of the original Mustang II design compared to the II Much hand made parts. And the frosting on this cake? You get to see a photo of II Much in pre-assembled form right before it was taken apart and sent out for paint. Check out the mil-spec finish on the wheels, the custom fab'd grille, one-off spoilers, and the incredible stance and ride height. Congrats to John Ulazek, Brian Schein, Rick Klein and Katz Tsubai for making the suspension and this ground breaking 3D technical article a reality. JP must be doing something right to have the support of such incredible friends. /Steevo |
I can't wait to see it. I remember all those teaser picts that were posted during the suspension build. Good job guys.

where's that mailman!! Huge congrats jp!!!
|
Yea, it's a GREAT article.. good job!!
I can't tell you how hard it is to keep secrets and not "spill the beans".. Forum members will be in the June edition as well.. |
What Steve said!
I got my issue yesterday too. The whole issue is packed with Pro-Touring and g-Machine cars. This is a dual cover issue: subscription folks get one with a Hemi on the cover, and the newstand issue has an incredible gold Chevy II (actually a Vennom) on the cover.
Much thanks to Johnny Hunkins for running the article. So, as Steevo says: go out and buy it! Several members are mentioned by name in the article, but I really owe Katz Tsubai (he did the design), and Brian Schein (he did most of the machining). Me: I did the welding, bugged Katz and Brian, and wrote the article. And finally, John Ulaszek did an incredible job with the photography. John has written and photographed many articles for GM Hi-Tech, but my suspension is his first cover shot. (hey, I'm countin' it ... even though it's pretty small!) jp |
Awesome, congrats JP and company. Can't wait to get my copy!

Like I said.. kudos to all that worked on the article (Katz, JohnU, you, Brian) very nice and well done! |
Damn it, I haven't even got the magazine you teased me with last month.
Got to check out what the airmail rate for the next period would cost. Jan |
Congrats John, that is about the most overdue picture for magazine in history, we have been drooling on it for what? 2 years now....Well deserved, I can't think of too many other cars that are so anticipated to be finished as yours  . I know I can't wait!

It was quite a road
Jeff and others, thanks again.
Getting this article published was quite an ordeal. I started with the concept and outline prior to SEMA 2003. This article represents about 18 months of fabrication, writing, and waiting (mostly waiting). Brian Schein put untold hours into it. Katz did too, and even got in trouble with Art Morrison for doing this on the side ... and so he had to very carefully only work on it after hours and weekends. Now that the article has run, look for some more updates here on my little section of Lateral-g. jp |
For fun, here's a couple that didn't make the article
These didn't make the cut for the article, but they are still pretty good. (both by John Ulaszek)

Those pics make me want to start all over with mine....but then reality hits....hard!!! I'm basically finished with the suspension on mine, and it will be fine for this car. :) Yours on the other hand it truely a work of art!!
I thought it was nice you mentioned Rick in the article too since he did contribute...although they are 'car art' now. :) |

Awesome. Just truly awesome, John. You've got to have an insane amount of hours tied up in that car. Have you kept track of your time?
|
Wow, JP, got my issue yesterday, what an awesome work of art that had the editors scratching their collective heads in Awe. Bud, when you drop the experts on their asses you have accomplished something. Great Job!
