She's alive!! big day today

Sort of a milestone.. first firing of the engine in the car.

The switch was flipped and Penny came to life. We only ran her for 30 seconds or so just to make sure all was good but everything seemed fine.

We have a bad fitting on the low pressure side of the rack so I need to replace that, everything else sounded and looked good. Wiring into the racepanel wasn't as tough as I thought it would be. I don't have a key, just a bank of switched for the fuel pump, water pump, lights, power and start.

She is now back at Best of Show in San Marcos for the sheetmetal re-install and minor tweaks. Shouldn't be long now.

Here she is ready to leave the shop:

Here's a cool shot. Notice how low and close to the firewall the LS2 sits. Also notice how the headers tuck up. They barely hang below the frame.

I have a 30 second vid but I need to host it somewhere..

XcYZ 09-26-2006 07:13 PM

Blown353 09-26-2006 08:30 PM

You're missing a lugnut on the front wheel and based on tire tread direction or better yet the "rotation" arrow on the sidewall the front wheels are on the wrong sides too. What kind of a show are you running down there?!? :P

Looks good!

mazspeed 09-26-2006 08:56 PM

That is badass Steve. I can't wait to see it in person. We will need to take the cars for a long joy ride

Yea, just tossed on the wheels to roll the car.. 50% chance of getting it right and we blew it.. too lazy to swap them back. Once the fenders are on the wheels go to Forgeline to get re-set to the right offset and the new Toyo R-compounds go on.

I knew there were be jokers like you so in the Frame story I put "Oh, and before the letters start rolling in, yes we know the wheels are on backwards"

How many lugs do you need to roll around a shop? The new lugs just came in the mail (12mm x 1.5 all around) and they wont mar up the wheels..

<-- getting excited

The Elbow is from Speed and Performance. They also modified the MAF so that it attaches with set screws on one side. The elbow is nice, it's a pretty heavy duty cast piece. After I build my intake I'm gonna coat the whole deal in the same stuff as the headers.

Payton King 09-27-2006 08:31 AM

do you have some detail pics of the elbo

how about a link to speed and performance?

They carry a lot of stuff for LSX transplants.. I always call and talk to Mark.

Payton King 09-27-2006 08:46 AM

You threw me with

Speed and performance...its street and performance. That is why I could not find it smarty pants. Mark is the owner. I usually speak with Lambert. He is the LS guy.

Are you using a 5 pin MAF..ie Z06 MAF

While you are building your air box you might as well whip me up one as well.

Steve,
The car sounds amazing!

Is the gas pedal hooked up? You are running the wireLESS gas pedal, right? If so, how hard was all the wiring/setup?

I can't wait to see the car together

Yea, Im running the fly-by-wire deal.. it was EASY to hook up. The Speartech harness came with the plug (direct to the ECU).. just hooked that up to the vette gas pedal and then plugged a wire into the Throttle Body.. voila!

Rybar 09-27-2006 01:50 PM
