I just saw an add today for Barrett Jackson and it has Bobs Cuda as lot#1290 selling no reserve at BJ this year!
That explains all the fun your having before she goes Bob! I am sure you will get plenty. I love that car. |
:( I'm sad

I wonder what that car will bring........
Any takers? |
my guess is that since it is a cuda with a hemi, and not just any cuda, and not just any hemi, the dollar value is extreamly high. plus all the publicity the car has gotten mkaes it worth more. there is a lot of people out there with more monye then they know what to do with.
My guess is : $700,000 |
whatever happened to the broken transaxle? I'm sure he fixed it, but what was the deal with that?
|
Yeah, Bob told me about that a while back. It is THE prime time car, going off right at the peak of Prime time.
I think the transaxle was simply a case of crazy horse power, wheel hop, (everyone experianced wheel hop there, but not everyone had the power to tear **** up) and a over rambungtious (sp) driver having fun, LOL! Bob ain't fraid to drive it like he stole it, and I have a ton of respect for that. I dare say there is not anyone who has ever had as much fun with a car of that caliber. |
Is bob gonna run the 0-200-0 before it sells?
|
I say the cuda goes for $1,280,362.00
|
Looks like BJ is going to use it for advertising. There is a half page BJ ad in my SEMA News with a pic of the Cuda stretched accross the ad. I hope he breaks the bank and builds something wilder!
|
I think he would be happy to break even......

Personally I would never do a no reserve auction,To risky to lose alot of money.
|
All the cars at Barrett are no reserve but he has the option of buying it back by paying the buyer and seller comissions. Barrett has the highest chance of hitting a home run of any of the auctions so I can see why he is taking it there.

I agree with the above, what was proven? Hey maybe I missed the Here is you Daddy numbers??
Incredible car but I am a little missing something how a site dedicated to driven cars honors a car simply for driving? A burnout or two? It is his car and his to do what he see fit. I agree that he is one of the few that even did drive such a high end car but what message is being set when a car simply is driven? For $750k I might expect to know it's performance. A Ferrari Enzo is $500k and has had it's performance proven weather you like the out come or not. I can't wait to see what that car brings. It has been driven which means it has to have wear showing and the tuck em away guys might not like seing that. The hardcore performance guys I am sure would be all over that with a solid 0-200-0 number. Heck I think BJ probably should be throwing some fee his way as it will draw them in big time. Besides the build I am sure there a a ton of extra fees including repairs that have to be added up to show a break even price. That said I think it will bring the $1 million as it just might be the most known Hemi ride out there and no wait to get it built!! Good luck with the sale and can't wait to see the next. |

You have the SMOTY car.. how many past SMOTY cars ever get driven, driven hard? He ran the car at the Air Ride Putnam raceway challenge and (i think) ran the second fastest time of the day. He drove the car on a good part of the Power Tour and when he has broken the car it was because they were beating the crap out of it. I am also pretty sure the car has been over 180mph (I seem to remember reading that somewhere). So while it hasn't knocked down any crazy 1/4 mile times it has seen the track, seen the street and been beat on. That's more than 99% of the other high-end "show cars" I've seen. For that I give Johnson props. I just hopes he makes it to Maxton before the auction. |

BTW for a million dollars or so I would hope he could beat a ford mustang with airbags :D |
The Cuda was also put through its paces at the Pigeon Forge Event on the auto-x and then proceded to trash the rear end on the drag strip up against Prodigy which did the same thing at the same time ironically. I don't know of another street driven hot rod that cost as much to build as the Cuda that has had the sh$t driven out of it like Bob has driven his Cuda. The only thing I think that even comes close money wise is vintage race cars reliving there youth.
Mike |
the cuda did not drive inthe auto x from hell at pigeon forge, drag racing was saturday, and auto x sunday
|
I'm sure any wear and tear that car took is being addressed before the auction. I gotta give kudos to Bob, he went out there and drove that car on Power Tour and then participated at Pigeon Forge. That's a lot more than any of these other blow job Boyd Coddington hacks who buy up cars and sit on them so they can turn around and make another 20 or 30 grand. Bob built a sensational car and then put it through it's proper paces. You can't ask for much more than that.
|
No one was more disappointed then Bob that the Cuda missed the autocross. Bob did not do the autocross because of the blown rear the day before drag racing, but he was there and ready to autocross. Even had a pro driver there to do some exhibition runs and see what the Cuda could really do if he pushed it. How many here would let a pro driver beat the snot out of there $10K, $25K, $50K, $100K car?
As for the hard numbers that did not get recorded, I suspect those numbers are more important to keyboard heroes, mathematicians and data collectors then potential suitors for this type of car. I know I will be at BJ to watch it go. And I want to be first bidder just so I can say I bid on it. I just hope there is a second bidder so some big guys don't have to try to shake the change out of my empty pockets to pay for it, LOL! |
All you need is two guys that want it, with big cash and ego's. We will see. Good luck.

I'd bet the car was driven more often and agressive then any other SMOY winner EVER! (DSE 'Twister' is right up there)
That being said, I was still very much looking forward to seeing it at a 0-200-0, Maxton, etc. Oh well, :( . |
Kudos to Bob. He had the cash and was willing to spend it on generating some new design ideas in our field. Anyone with deep pockets can go out and buy a Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Bugatti, etc. So what. To take the time, money, stress and put it into an unproven project is awesome.
Sorry that Jody and Brian are jealous, but I would rather see more people trying to push the envelope with AMERICAN muscle than subsidizing the Italian, etc. economy. Innovation is what drives our economy. |

Damn Jody, your one jealous man  BTW I'm not jealous, just poking some fun. The cuda is a killer car and he did drive the piss out of it. BUT I was told all sorts of things at Sema last year of how they had a parachute/racing wheels/seats and a bunch of other stuff to get it ready for some serious competition. I know everything doesn't always pan out. No big deal though, its his car and he gets to do whatever he wants with it  |

It did the complete power tour, many air ride events. Drove to a couple good guy's show. More then it's share of 160mph blast in Manteno and even on the highway. BTW - I am not dissing the Cuda in a sense of the word as it's truly and awesome car. I've spent hours looking at the car and it's pictures. It represents the next step forward in car building and design. On a side note if Dave ever finishes the TT v10, viper drivetrain Charger at his shop i guaranty people will be as shocked as they were when the Johnson Cuda showed up on the scene. |
