project "the car"....66 mustang fastback ground up build
2 Attachment(s)
This week we started cutting apart my beautiful 66 fastback with bigger and better things in mind. It is always a painful pocess hurting the car you love and have put so much time into, but it needs help. The 66 mustang fastback will be sporting a partial tube frame upgrade with modifications coming to the stock front and rear frames and a custom center section to tie them together. An eight point cage will be going in as well as new sheetmetal floors, console, firewall, engine bay, interior......
The engine will be set back about 6 inches and down a few. The new dash and engine setback require new mountings for the pedals, wipers...... We are going to tuck the front and rear bumpers and have some custom sheetmetal front and rear accents to give it that distinct look. Here is a firsthand look at the carnage...stay posted for further beautification. |
Cool, looking forward to updates. 6" is a lot os set back, I'm interested in seeing the fabrication it takes.

Sounds like a killer plan, what is the drivetrain going to be?

the engine will be a twin turbo 5.o litre. suspension will be our g-machine prototype suspension inculuding rack and pinion, boxed lower a-arm, aluminum upper arm, and a custom boxed steel spindle. the rear will either be a torque arm setup or 4 link. the transmission will be a t-56 running to a 9" full floater.

more carnage
The fabrication began with the tube framerails and the off-road style boxing my partner Jason welded up. The main hoop is bent up and ready for more cage bars. Louie
