Twin turbo LS2 intake showed up today

Manifold just showed up for my twin turbo LS2. The headers are Nelson Racings new LSX setup; there's a second piece to hold the turbos and wastegate which I have not fitted yet. Towed the car to the stripper today also, so things are progressing.

Rybar 11-06-2006 08:31 PM

Looks sick Jody  are you running ETP heads? If so which ones? How did you measure pushrod length and are your rockers stock? I just took delivery of my 215's :D

Stripper? Is this Malitude we are talking about? It can't need paint already.

907rs 11-06-2006 08:41 PM

Cool beans, Jody. Are you having them coated, or leaving them raw?

lt1 chevelle 11-06-2006 08:43 PM

is that motor for the 64 chevelle? and when u said took the car to the stripper are u also talking about the 64? if so why.or am i just not in the loop and u are building another car?

Unfortunately it does. Suffice it to say the guys who painted it for Mark and said they stripped the car did not and that has created some issues. I can see the previous red paint job from when Charley had the car.

This 402 LS2 is going in Malitude. Yes, Malitude is being stripped for a new owner-applied paint job.

slownova 11-06-2006 08:47 PM

will that fit under the stock hood? going to keep it red? looks aweosme.

These are the ETP 11 degree 240's. The LS2 is a 402 cid build. Rockers are stock and an adjustable pushrod figures the proper length with 3/4 turn beyond "0" lash, as recommended by Wheel to Wheel.

I'm leaving them raw Bill; I haven't seen any coating stay nice on turbo headers.

XcYZ 11-06-2006 09:13 PM

How about I let you run and MiniDV while I drive the Malitude? :D :_paranoid

Seriously though, I can't wait to ride shotgun in that thing.

4mm 11-06-2006 09:27 PM

Wow, extremely impressed with the speed at which you work

I am pretty sure you're glad the way things worked out, i.e., staying with the engine.

Are you painting it black?

jeff hanson 11-06-2006 09:33 PM

Looks awesome! After sema, it's almost like twin turbo or go home. I think every car had friggin twin turbo's for god's sake! That thing should be a ball. Good luck.

clill 11-07-2006 08:11 AM

You keep doinking around and it won't be ready for Power Tour...You have about 26 weeks......

jonny51 11-07-2006 08:41 AM

You just can't leave anything alone huh?

Diognes56 11-07-2006 11:05 AM

Getting personal now, huh???!!!!!!!:lolhit:

KHShapiro 11-07-2006 02:33 PM

did W2W suggest that intake? tall runners you have there, did you get any flow data on the intake?
Looks great!
Grudge match in the future? :D

No, that was my decision. Being it's forced induction I can't imagine it can't outflow the stock LS2 setup, which is known to be restrictive.

Grudge race? I don't think so! Mines just a heavy street car. :(

Yeah, get that witch out of hibernation!

i would be interested to see if you have any numbers on your intake. With those runners it looks like it should be a monster up top, the only bad thing about the intake is if you are going to be pushing alot of air , with the TB up front it tends to force more air into the rear cyls.
what turbos are you going with and what was the deciding factor in you going for twins? Who is building the system for you incase i missed it in this or another thread.
once again very nice build

I will respectfully disagree on the airflow deal. Under pressure that just can't happen. At least that's what a couple of EFI engineers have told me (both have a strong thermodynamics background). Say it's a common misconception. With the manifold under pressure the pressure is the same at any port, the rears would not have more.

I'm running twin ball bearing liquid cooled T67's from Precision. The decision for twins was mostly lag time; I know a big single can make huge power, but it comes at a price. I am not going to run a super loose converter so twins was the direction I was going. The headers are from Nelson Racing, and the rest of the plumbing will be done here.

Not really sharing that much yet, but it's an old school grandma car type of color. :wow:

Jr 11-07-2006 04:54 PM

Jody,
Are you using a automatic? If so, what kind of automatic(4l80e, th400,or 4l60e), and what kind of torque converter are you going to run.

The headers look really nice :faint:

It's a 4L80E with a Shrifter. I would have to guess on the converter, came with the car. Pretty mild, maybe 2800 stall or so, and it's a lockup.

I have "the scoop" on the car and the direction it's headed in-- it will be a LOT of fun. :unibrow:

And no, I won't divulge the info. I can't wait to see the reaction to the finished product and I don't want that spoiled... and I'm sure neither does Jody.

Troy, it was nice meeting you and watching you guys pilot that "streetcar" around Thunderhill.

Good meeting you too!

That Mustang meets the definition of streetcar in that it has seen duty on public roads numerous times... law enforcement just wasn't there to tell us otherwise. They sometimes show up at the shop after street "test sessions" though. :P
