Right tools for bending and flearing SS tube?

From time to time we see here beautifull stainless pluming as in 1984 Camaros car

What tools exactlly pros really use ? And wich tool can make the double flare on brakelines ? Please real names and partnumbes :yes:

Ridged tube bender and Flare kit should do the trick. Never had another flare tool work as well as the ridged unit. Even the little tub cutter that comes with the kit seems to hold up well.

just remember that all "AN" fittings use a 37* single flare instead of the 45* double flare used on steel type brake lines.

for "normal" size lines (3/16-3/8) i use a bender i got off the SNAP-ON truck years ago, for "big" lines (1/2, 5/8, 3/4) i made my own dies out of round stock, kinda like a mini JD2 bender die.

for flaring i have a hydraulic flaring tool that i re-cut the cone and seats to 37*

Swagelok makes the schnizzy tubing tools.... but there stuff can get a little expensive for most out there. Definately worth every penny tho.....

As for an actual flairing tool, nothing comes close to this:

Looks like the fuel lines are done !?!! I dunno.... I read 'brake application' from his post. The newer Swagelok stuff does standard AN, 37* JIC, buffalo and Swagelok compression fittings.... which actually makes their stuff worth the price now-a-days. :yes:

Gary has some nice benders as well, I use alot of 1/2 ss and the one i got from him is qite nice holds a great radius with out kinking.

The kit you show for the AN lines should be fine. Single 37 degree flares are not a problem. What you neeed to confirm about any brake line kit you are considering, is whether it is rated to handle double flares with stainless tubing. Stainless lines are much harder than plain mild steel lines. I have broken a few tools trying to double flare stainless. Good luck.

this is the hydro flare tool i have, i ordered an extra cone and 3/16" female die set, then remachined them to a 37* flare specifically for doing stailess line with AN fittings. for larger AN fitting on alum fuel line...i use a regualr ole manual 37* flaring tool

the tool also works great on mild steel brake lines doing double flares, and the "bubble" flares have actually come in handy a couple times.

For lines shown in the first post I use a 37 deg single flaring tool I got from Summit.
Stainless brake lines are a whole other story...
I like the look of that Essex tool. Might have to get me one of those.
