IMO it is one of the best looking finishes out there. And 'Advanced' is THE place to have it done at.
But please be aware that Black Chrome scratches very easily. Unlike traditional chrome which has nickel (close in color) underlying the top coat (which is non transparent), Black Chrome has a silver base. The top coat is very thin and transparent giving that deep look that we all like the Black chrome for. However, by simply (and innocently) wiping it with the slightest abbrasive towel, cloth etc it will leave tiny scratches that in time will dull the finish. A micro fiber cloth and some non-ammonia glass cleaner is all you need to clean it. NEVER use wax or polish like you would on regular chrome. They call it "Chrome" but is should never be maintained like such. You will love the look of it, just be careful. Oh... and be prepared to pay a significant amount more for Black Chrome than traditional chrome plating. |

ah, thank you sir. :hail: i wonder what it does cost now. id have to ship it all the way to tennesse tho now.

Brian,
to get anything done right, you are going to have to ship it out of this great state of ours. I would call advanced or sherms in cali. |
crate it up on a pallet and send it freight, it is much cheaper!

The subframe of my Camaro is done in black chrome powder coat and it is not as durable as say plain black powdercoat. They warned me that it is u.v. sensitive and I found that if you try to rub or polish a blemish, it gets blotchy. Maybe it should have been clear powdered coated afterwards.

Yes, any "chrome" powdercoat needs to be clearcoated to protect the finish. We learned the hard way on a display my company built, we used something like that. It was extremely fragile and if someone got a solvent on it, it made a permanent black mark which really looked bad.

Advanced Plating is Nashville is a stellar operation. I had a bike frame powder coated there and it is still looking good.
