http://images20.fotki.com/v366/photo...le0025w-vi.jpg
Just took pics for the 07 catalog yesterday, and couldn't wait to share this with you guys! Pricing will be out shortly. Enjoy the sneak peek! |
whoa... maaan if the price is right!
|
that looks great Craig. I assume first gen Camaro?
Jody |
Yes it is.
|
I must say WOW!!!!!
Craig,
Looks awesome, can't wait for the price. Hopefully, it is compatable with DSE or WD unit. One question, will we see any picture of the test mule you used to test this platform? Thanks, Sam |
We will be taking installation photos on Friday of the installation into Matt's Camaro. It's already been test fit a number of times, just this time we will take pictures.
|
    That is way cool looking. Can't wait to see the pricing and options. How big of a front wheel and tire will it take??
|
Glad to see it ready to go public, Craig.
Any chance on getting a more detailed image of the trans crossmember? |
Craig,
What do you expect this front end to do on the G meter? |
Good question. It's definitely tough to speculate the performance, but I am guessing that it will be right there with the others out there.
|
Really nice Craig! Can't wait to see pics of it in the car.
What are you guys thinking about price range wise? |
Thanks for the compliments, guys.
The front end geometry used on the subframe is the same as used on Art & Craig's 3G Vette, which has the potential to break the 1g barrier. This subframe certainly holds the same potential, but it obviously will depend on your vehicle. I haven't absolutely confirmed the max tire size of as yet, but from what I've tested so far, you can fit a BIG tire in there. I will probably know as of next week and I will update this post. XcYZ, I'll see what I can do about getting a more detailed view. That crossmember setup is designed the way it is such that 2.5" exhaust can be plumbed through without losing any ground clearance (which is at 5-6" depending on tire diameter), but will also allow the use of anything from a Richmond 6 speed to a T56 to a Powerglide. |
More and More i am really considering a Camaro for my next project.
YOu guy's really are making some nice products. PS - you also did a good job on TV last night. |

David |
What is the track width on it?
|
Nice piece. Will it work with LSX and stock AC brackets without modifying?
|
Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!
|
Nice Craig!! That looks great. If it is lower in price than the DSE sub you will sell a lot of them. Good to see morrison coming out with products aimed at the pro touring world instead of the drag race world. Way cool!!
|
Price wize, can we get a group purchase going? :D If you have ever seen me I am group unto myself.
|
Yeah, what they said.
|
How about something that will accept DSE suspension, maybe like Scott has? :unibrow:
|
im assuming thats c5 vette suspention? so 07 zo6 brakes will bolt up nicely eh?
|

Man I cant wait to get one of these! |
Very nice Craig!! I think I need one!! Will it accept the DSE arms, and if so will it maintain the same geometry as using the C5 parts??
|
Looks great Craig. There is obviously room for some fat tires with good turning radius.
|
nice
craig
nice new camaro peice...too bad i dont have one...hehe really nice job on the sema interview with the vette....that car loooks awesome!! radrambler |
Wow. Sweet looking. If I had a Camaro I am sure I would enjoy it even more.

We are taking more pics tomorrow morning of the clip installed in Matt's 69. I'll post some "installed" pics later in the day.

The hub track width is slightly wider than stock Camaros, to 60 1/2". My goal is the keep scrub low to minimize feedback, but not too low. I had it originally set the hub track at 61 1/2", but found you'd have to buy some high $$$ wheels, due to the deep offset, to make things fit. With this track width, we can have the best of both worlds: Good geometry, and affordable wheels.
Initial fitament of a F-body 2001 LS1 engine & trans showed the alternator clears the steering rack. The AC compressor will be installed on the motor today to make sure that fits without modifications. I was very pleased to see that our customers would not have to purchase expensive accessory brackets to make their LSX fit. Any 1997+ Corvette brake setup will fit this suspension. Anything from high end Brembos to budget oriented C5 brakes will work, and will give people the oportunity to start small and upgrade later if they need to. I don't have any details on DSE's control arms to say if they'd work with this subframe. This uses stock C5/C6 control arms & knuckles, so any replacement will fit. I would advise caution, however, since the geometry used on this system is NOT stock C5/C6...it has been modified to better match a F/X-Body's characteristics, and ultimately better performance and driver feel. Any suspension components produced to modify stock C5 geometry will probably adversely effect this subframe's geometry. I hope this answers some of your questions...and please keep 'em coming! |

Matt will regular backspacing work. ei 4.5 - 4.75"?
|
Nice!
I would be interested in a version that would allow me to use "stock replacement" type tubular upper and lower A-Arms such as DSE, GW, Speedtech, Hotchkiss, etc with coilovers. Not everyone wants to run the C4/5 stuff. |

Yeah many of us have all the suspension parts and just need the frame and perhaps a rack. I have DSE arms, QA1 c/o's, and a Unisteer rack...
|
Nice job Craig, and you guys are pretty close to me. Maybe a future upgrade.... :unibrow: Also interested if it can accept aftermarket arms

 you wouldn't happen to be donating one to a poor college student, would you ;) ;) |
I want the first one off the line! When can I come pick it up??? Seriously! Just don't abuse us on price... please!
:unibrow: |
For sure a standard 4 - 4.5 BS wheel will not fit, not only that but the suspension is designed for about a 45-50 mm positive off set
so a 8.5" wheel 6.5 to 7 BS. a 4.5 BS would adversly change the scrub way too much ( i have this argument with my partner alllll the time he always wants a bigger lip on the front wheel and it is really not possible) we have built frames with c5 and made them narrower than AM will and i know you make the bump steer worse but when your putting C5 into a 66Nova i think the trade off of a little bump steer is worth the upgrade, besides if the rack goes in the optomimum position it is not that bad our last one we ended up with .071 deg of toe change in 1.0 inches of travel and .157 toe out @ 2" of compression ant the track width is 53.5" |
Any Chance you'll be producing one that will support the C4 stuff?
