New Torino hood.. flat black

17" wheels with 285/40 and 255/40 tires

painted back tail light panel

front spoiler

installed black vinyl top

Cut coil out of front springs

Voila.

Not bad for a just over $10k car..

Nice!!! I like the choice of wheels and the blackout looks great!

Beautiful car Steve. I just did a 64 Fairlane for a shop. I think the renderings were in Hot Rod this month. If I'd known you were into them, I would have given you a heads up! Great work, especially for the low cost to build.

Oh, and that backdrop looks mighty familiar. :_paranoid

Very cool. So Chevelle-ish now. I love the Cobra wheels.

Before..

There's a few thinks I could have also done, like paint the front bumper, grill and wheel centers. But I only had 5 days.. Maybe later. The car looks totally different from the geriatric cruiser it was before.

Also painted the rear tail light panels the same as the hood.

BThibodeaux 12-09-2006 02:49 PM

What a difference! The wheels and tires are perfect for the car.

Sales@Dutchboys 12-09-2006 02:51 PM

Great job what a difference.

mazspeed 12-09-2006 03:22 PM

Looks good Steve. What are you going to do with it now?

steemin 12-10-2006 04:38 PM

Steve,
Very nice.
Excellent choice on the wheels and hood.
Whats next?

I was told I have to build and engine/trans/rear now and run 11.70's in the quarter mile.

Then I can work on the suspension, brakes and such..

At first I was not a big fan of this car or project Camaro by PHR. Over time, through the mag, you get a feel what these cars are all about and what has been accomplished. I now look forward to checking out that project Camaro. Last months issue showing you guys detailing the engine. I got a big kick out of that. Darn car is very respectable. For some or even most young people this is what they can afford. Sometimes these low budget builds are the way to go!

This car should be an enjoyable build as well. Good work Steve!

Yea, it's about balance.. my '68 is the high dollar road and the Fairlane and '76 Camaro are low buck.. You need something for everyone.

I have under $11k in the Fairlane (closer to 10).. that's not bad for what it is and certainly anyone could afford that sort of budget for a cruiser.

Streetking 12-12-2006 07:23 PM

Very kool!
