looking for someone who does custom carbon fiber work
was going to ditch my console and do a column shift in the Malitude (kind of an old-school granny car look). I have the stock console but like most all I've seen is a bit beat up in areas. These areas (inserts) would look great in carbon fiber, as I have the CF dash and another piece on the glovebox door.
Looking for a company that would be willing to do custom work. Anyone deal with someone who does this? Jody |
the guy who did all the fiberglass in my car says he can do carbon fiber, never acctually seen him do it, but the rest of his work is top notch im sure this would be also. let me know if ur interest.

Jody,
Check with wabbits. They did the stuff in my car and really do nice stuff. Frank as a contact number if you need one. They are the guys that have been in the street rod scene for years. Also, check with Craig Morrison, they have a guy that did alot for them on the vette and I think is fairly close to you. |
get ahold of Alan Johnson and find out who did the carbon fiber on Bob Johnson's Cuda
Mike |
The guys name that did the work on the Cuda is Doug Groh, the company name is 3G Services. I can get the number tomorrow if you need it.

thanks guys, at least I have a direction to go on.

Wabbits is your man. They did high quality Van Conversion / late model truck stuff for years, but when the market got whored out and cheapen up, he went back to custom only instead of lowering quality to compete. Greatest thing about Wabbit is he does not charge a first piece set up fee. In other words, for example, the dash bezel for Eternity was $350, the next Firebird he does, is $350. So I did not pay for him to make the template. He has a real good attitude about and feels if he gets the template out of the deal, he should eat the R and D.
Tell him I sent you, and he will charge you double, LOL! Seriously, he loves doing these muscle car / pro Touring cars. www.wabittsww.com |

Jody do you have a pic of what you want built? and a old part to splash (copy for mold) and a close up pic of the carbon fiber grain or oz you want to match on your dash.

Not difficult to make but the front section curves down over the front of the console, so those pieces aren't flat either. |

So your thinking just the ribbed area, have a carbon insert? Are you going to mill the ribbs down for the carbon to sit flush?

How high up is the edges from the rib, that will have a factor on what ounce material you can use for laminate, to sit flush with the raised area, also the easiest way is to take a mold off the top of your console to do the laminate of carbon. Let me check I might have a friend with a 65 console I can get a better look at it that way.

Jody, these guys have been real good to the SRT community. I am not sure if they'd be interested in custom goodies or not but it's worth a try.

Carbon Work
Jody,
Alex at wolfdenproducts does incredible work. They do all the CF for Rahal, Michael Shank racing and bunch of other car guys here in town. They have also done a bunch of work for Honda as well. (there is a huge R&D facility not to far from Columbus) http://wolfdenproducts.com/ Darren |
Well you would want to bolt the console together amd make a mold and do a laminate in one piece then trim it to fit the inserts so the grain will flow from side to side and also rear section to front, do you want the grain on a 45 or 90, how soon do you need it?

If your interested in doing it yourself there is a link I have at home that gives you a step by step. This guy did some carbon fiber door panels for his mustang.
