Holy Crud! My son trashed the 69 Camaro

You'd think a two year old would have more respect than this.

It is amazing how much this scale model looks like my real car. I couldn't believe it when a friend bought it for me.

Does anybody know where I could get another one (for safe keeping!)?

Steve Chryssos 12-15-2006 05:49 AM

Another son? Don't do it! It's just a toy. How about "No SpongeBob for a Week" as punishment.

Ummgawa 12-15-2006 06:37 AM

Take his liscense!!

XcYZ 12-15-2006 07:10 AM

That'll buff right out. lol

Clockwork 12-15-2006 07:29 AM

LOL! I've got a yellow one that looks like that. This is why my '69 street fighter sits up high in a cabinet.
Anyway try Wal Mart.

clill 12-15-2006 07:31 AM

Your Sons response should be.. " This ain't no trailer queen Dad"

Bill Howell 12-15-2006 09:18 AM

I was thinking the same thing Charley, I like cars that are "driven", damn a show and shine. :D

Ummgawa 12-15-2006 09:35 AM

Put some butter on it....

rockdogz 12-15-2006 09:45 AM

C'mon dad, you going to keep it in the package all the time or drive it off the counter once in a while??

ZZ3ElCamino 12-15-2006 09:48 AM

69MyWay....That diecast is a Jada Toys product (part of their "Big Time Muscle" line)....you can go to their website to locate some online dealers that may have that Camaro. www.jadatoys.com

Roger Poirier 12-15-2006 10:03 AM

Your thread got me!

ZZ3ElCamino 12-15-2006 10:19 AM

Do you really think so? Nice model, but to a two year old it's just another shiny toy to slam into furniture around the house.

71Nova 12-15-2006 02:00 PM

Lets just hope that it isn't a sign of things to come when he is old enough to drive. When he gets older I would remember that car and hide the keys.

MaxHarvard 12-15-2006 02:05 PM

I imagine this in the future for you... son is 16, its prom time...

Son - "hey dad can i have the keys to the camaro for prom?"

Dad - *Thinks back to this incident*

Son - "dad?"

Dad - *curles into the fetal position sucking his thumb"

Son - "i guess that's a 'no' huh?"

:willy:

Here is the background on this little Camaro.

My friend bought it for me when my son was not yet two. I had it in the closet waiting to give it to him when he reached an older age. We went to a car cruise one night and a vendor had some like it (not the exact same thing) on a table. He saw them and started saying "Dadda's Car", then proceeded to pitch a holy fit when I didn't let him play with them. I am talking knock down, drag out, scream fest!

When we got home that night and were getting ready for bed I slipped into the closet and pullled it out. I wanted him to see it and play with it for a bit before going to bed. It was love at first sight! He took the car and said "Tank You"...then started making car noises and rolling it around.

About 10 minutes later we started to put him in bed. I figured I would snag the toy and put it away. No dice. When we said "Time for bed"...he grabbed it, took it to bed with him, and snuggled with it like a rag doll.

Since then, it has been burried in the yard, in the bath, covered in pizza, lost & found, and lost, and found...left in the back of the car...truck...you name it.

He first managed to break the windshield, then he got the seats out, door panels, bumpers...deck lid, mirrors, and other small items.

THANKS for the link to the toy company, as my wife was able to order a fresh one we can share with him later.

When he goes out in the garage and sees the real car, he says "Daddy Camaro"...and calls his "Baby Camaro."

is it bad that i still do these things? :_paranoid

tracy 12-15-2006 04:33 PM

Dad, you said these cars are built for driving...whats the problem anyway :D

awr68 12-15-2006 11:07 PM

Man Chris, my heart skipped a beat as I read this title!! Glad it wasn't Daddy's real car!!

You see I have a 2 year old son as well, and he loves cars and to play with tools in the shop...although he has a little problem understanding how easily things 'get scratched'...sorry but I just don't want to go there right now, let's just say he got kicked out of the garage the other night...

Bandit Ls-1 12-18-2006 03:13 AM

i was a lil worried when i saw the title of this thread glad, it was only a toy lol. they sell those things at walmart they have some awesome looking models their, they also have bigger sizes that have more detail.

squid 12-19-2006 03:39 PM

I was misled. Glad to see it was the 'Baby camaro' and not 'Daddy's camaro".

DRJDVM's '69 12-20-2006 12:41 PM

My 4 year old is the same way. He has a '02 Porsche Carrera that looks like it was car jacked, stripped and left on the street....... a '67 Fastback Mustang that has all the glass cracked out, all the mirrors and air ducts glued back on dozens of times and a '70 Barracuda that has me considering buying stock in a glue company. I've practically spent more time fixing and gluing those car back together than I have spent on my own car !!! He owns over 200 Hot Wheels and various other small cars that are in every room of my house (you should see his bathtub collection!!) We buy him the cheap ones at the car shows etc since we know "look but dont play with", will never fly.

Watching him race them around the house making car noises....priceless....

He's like my little best friend when it comes to cars. We drive around and he starts screaming "dad, dad, dad, look, look" when he sees an old muscle car drive by or a new corvette of mustang. He pages through my car magazines and can name a good portion of the "well known" cars (mustangs, camaro, challenger, barracuda, chevelle etc etc).... it makes my wife sick :)... he knows more cars than she does.

He also know who Chip Foose is and gets excited when his show or his commercials come on. He says he wants to grow up to draw cars like Chip.

My wife is scared that our daughter will be that way too since she spends 2 days a week at home with dad.... :)

He's still too young to really help or be safe in the garage around some of the stuff I'm doing, but I can hardly wait until then. Hopefully he's still into it later on.
