Kris Horton Calendars coming soon!

Kris and I have been collaborating over the last few weeks and there WILL be a calander available sometime in January. I know this should be posted down in the vendor section, but I wanted to make sure it has plenty of exposure. These won't be small either. They will be high quality 11x17 or 12x18 high resolution pictures large enough for framing when the year is over. Costs have not been determined but will probably be around $20 and as of right now, approximately 500-1000 will be made. Please post up your interest and questions here. And no, it won't be full of '69 Camaros. If you do not know Kris' work by now, check out http://carsbykris.com/

What cars will be in it? Will it have new cars, or will it be cars that people contracted Kris to have illustrated? There was talk of a calendar a while back and it got real ugly. I have a feeling that it will happen again.

How about 67 camaros?

Kris Horton 12-22-2006 10:59 AM

Mike and I are still narrowing down the list. It'll be a pretty good range of vehicles. We want it to appeal to anyone that's into American muscle. We've narrowed down the list from almost 80 cars to 13, with several backups. We may even do multiple cars/angles per page. We're still working on a lot of the details, but are moving ahead quickly in hopes that we can begin producing and marketing them very soon. You can count on several F-Bodies, a handful of A-Bodies, a couple of Fords, and a Mopar or two for good measure. :)

Multiple cars/angles would be great if possible. I'm in.

That is an issue that has already been discussed extensively. It will not have a group of cars predominate to any site or controversial renderings so not to ruffle anyones feathers. I will be a broad mixture of cars to appeal to everyones tastes. Kris nor I have any intentions to play favorites or piss anyone off. I fealt there was a market to do these and approached Kris about it and he agreed. More info will be released as certain items become finalized.

Ideally it would be a set of cars done by me to my own specs. As Mike said, there won't be any playing favorites or using cars that were contracted by clients. We just want it to be a nice calendar that people can hang around their house, office, or garage. That was the goal the first time around, but back then there was talk of using customers' cars. This time we hope to keep it drama-free. :)

"Broad mix" - like maybe a 356 Porsche ???

Not feeling any love over here in the Otherwise Noted catagory....

LOL

I'll take one!

McssGmachine 12-22-2006 01:10 PM

I'm Interested!

Is there going to be any G-bodies in it? If not I have one you could use! :unibrow:

I wish it had cars that were real cars, that are done so people could see the concept and the reality. Of coarse since we probably have Kris highest rendering to project completion ratio, my opinion could be self serving, LOL!

Concept/reality shots is a great idea, but I am concerned about the issues from the past creeping into this and I don't want that.

I did not follow the last post, but I think I got the jest of it. I cannot imagine why anyone would see it as anything but a honor to get any coverage of their car. You are welcome to use any of our cars, only thing I ask is you name owner and builder. And I hope you out sell Mcdonalds!

Kris Horton 12-22-2006 04:43 PM

Frank,

Mike and I are just concerned about people taking issue with us making a profit off of it. It's a topic that's been argued to death, so we just want to avoid it being a problem this time around.

If Prodigy is cool with us using their cars, I think we could maybe devote a month to them showing the cars designed and completed. Heck, a couple more cars and we could fill a whole calendar with Prodigy/CbK projects.

We'll sort out the details.

As far as Porsche's and G-Bodies (haha...apples and oranges anyone?) It's a possibility. I'm partial to G-Bodies as well having owned an 84 El Camino SS, and believe it or not, I've actually done renderings of a Porsche 356...

If the initial cost of producing these calendars wasn't so high, I'd consider doing 3 seperate runs with different pictures, just to try and satisfy everyone's wishes. Best I can do right now is say let's see how this first one does, and if it does well, we'll be back next year with even more. Baby steps for now though. :)

I am in, send me one or twelve.
Kris and Mike, I think you are over analyzing the situation. If you use renderings of clients cars, just get a release from them. If they don't want to sign it, move on, don't worry about it. I promise you have done enough cars now that there will surely be 13 people that would be proud to be on your first calendar. When flowmaster asked if I would allow them to put the goat in their 07 calendar, you better believe I did not try to negotiate any royalties. I was just honored to be asked. Renderings are nice, but knowing the picture is of a real car makes it that much better IMO. And stop worrying if you are hurting someone's feelings about whether or not their car is in the first one, geez, this is your money, investment and time here. Use the cars that you like and move on with it, January is 9 days from now...lol
Good Luck with the venture and count me in for several.

bob johnson 12-22-2006 07:57 PM

even if your goat ain't on it??

Bill Howell 12-22-2006 08:00 PM

The goat is old news, he needs to use new fresh cars

I have considered that but have not pursued it yet as a full list of cars has not been decided. We all know what went down 2 years ago and are being careful because of it. I have publicly said I was going to do this and it will happen as fast as possible. It would not be good for my new business to not follow through.

Mike

OK I'm in but only if there is a 2nd Gen Camaro. :D

OK just kidding. I would be in either way.

Maybe we could do a Calendar signing at one of my Gatherings.

You know how to find me.
