Difference in fuel injectors?
 

Say a guy is choosing fuel injectors...obviously output is the most important and impendance but what else? From past experience I know some items are only made by a few vendors and everyone else makes pretty stickers to put their name and price on....is there really a difference or does say seimens and delphi make nearly all the injectors out there and Fast, Accelle and Venom just relabel them? I see this all the time in electronics, just curious as I shop around.

Also impendance...I know what it is, but how does it apply to fuel injectors? I'm using an Accele DFI but curious about how it works as much or moreso than just what to use...I'd rather understand it than just order a part :)

A lot of the injector business is relabeling-- there are only a handful of manufacturers. There are several different designs of injectors (ball, disc, pintle, etc.) each of which offers different spray and response time characteristics as well as some styles being more resistant to clogging.

There is also high and low impedance designs, the high impedance injectors being the older technology. The low impedance injectors with a "peak and hold" driver offer better injector response especially at higher operating pressure and are capable of shorter operating pulsewidths (i.e. they will idle better, which is very important as injectors go up in size and idle pulsewidths get shorter.)

As far as who you buy from... specialty vendors will test all their injectors and group them by actual flowrate so you get a well matched batch and they will also visually verify spray pattern and performance over a wide operating range.

high imp will only go so high, I think 75. If you go to low imp youll need a ijector driver. 75 is good to 900 ish hp in a blower setup easy.

EFI Injectors
 

Bosch injectors are the best with a 30 degree spray cone and very high reliability. High impedence injectors are needed with a four driver Bank to Bank style ECU. Maximum 36 Lb per Hr. Disclamer here and your prices may be slightly higher in the South.

what injectors would you recommend for a 600hp NA ls7 with stock harness?

Horsepower divided by number of cylinders times .50 brake specific. Another disclaimer inserted here.

Dave, we have killer deals on some really nice flowed injectors. I would go with 50LBS, injector size X 2 X cylinders X 80% duty cycle, or in this case

50LBS X 2 = 100 X 8 Cylinders = 800 X 80% duty cycle = 640HP

Need to know if the stock electronics are sequential. 8 driver ECU. If it is bank to bank/4driver then you will be limited to 36 lb. hr. You can up the fuel pressure to increase the range of the injector.

Why are you saying that 36lb/hr is the limit? Siemens makes a high impedance injector that flow 60lb/hr @43.5psi. Delphi has 50lb/hr high impedance injectors.

Nice injectors from RC, I have the himp 75.

Venom is another company that comes to mind. They will build high or low Z injectors up to 190lbs/hr.

I believe they are-- but Jody can confirm it. I haven't looked at that engine in quite a while but I vaguely remember their label on the injectors. Maybe I'm confusing it with his old 540 though, that thing I'm 99% certain had RCE injectors on it.

pretty sure they are, that's all my efi connection uses and I would have bought them from him. Not cheap, but they're flowed and sold in matched sets, so eliminates a variable out of the tuning process.
