Well my friends, you saw it here first. My Chevelle. Finished.

Hey folks, at long last after every trial and hardship imaginable, the Chevelle lives and breathes!

It has been a long journey with a lot of setbacks and problems. Plenty of blood, sweat, and tears have gone into it, as with any personal project. But just over a year into our frame-off build that started and ended in our 3 car garage, it's finished. Well, it's complete. :) It'll never be finished, finished.

In fact, next step will be a trip back to the body shop. The car is going to SEMA again this year, but this time, the body will be perfect and we will be able to drive it in. As some of you know, the body work done on the car was sub-par and the paint has some flaws, so we will be getting the body and paint straightened out over the summer.

But for now, me and my dad are able to stand back from it and say "there she is. Done."

I'll be giving a better account of how it runs and drives soon, but we are still tuning it a little bit and making sure there are no bugs. But I can say this, it sounds amazing and from the little we've seen, will have plenty of power. My dad lit the tires by just blipping the throttle...so it should be fun!

Anyway, enough talk, here are the pics!

Enjoy!

That's awesome Kris. Glad to see it on the road. Now, before you get that paint fixed, make sure to give it a good thrashing before the paint is perfect!

I really hope this car will boost the popularity of the underappreciated 71 and 72 models. The 70 is still the most popular and will always stand as the poster child for the Chevelle name, but I think that this will make people see the 71 as a car that can look really great too.

Wow, some bright people over there.

One of the coolest details is that Kris designed those wheels. The thrash he put in to make it to SEMA was epic. People that can only pick it apart based on the paint and wheels aren't car guys, they have no idea what it takes to build a car like that.

Yea.. a bunch of "me toos" that never dare to try anything new because that would be "rice"..

Narrow minded people that think every car needs to be built for what THEY want..

Anyways.. looking good!! Has it been shot for a mag yet???

p.s. I want a motor shot of that crate 350 with dress up items.. :unibrow:

I agree 100%, those guys don't have a clue!! You gotta love all the "fugly" comments though. :lolhit:

I just registered over there. Lets see what they have to say when I post there...

Okay, I made my post. Hope that at least opens some people's eyes, but seems most of the people there are kind of like-minded...which in their case isn't a very good thing. To each their own. I wasn't trying to make them like it, just understand that it's not a trailer queen or all show and no go.

Awesome results Kris...when I saw the SEMA pics I thought it was done! But that is awesome.
I tend to lurk alot of Anti-rice.com, I would be really intimidated to post anything...reactions can be catasrophic(sp?). Seems that once you made you post they all retreated or made good comments.

Y-TRY 04-04-2005 05:04 PM

You're than man, Kris. The car looks great. I had been trying to imagine how you could possibly do the paint as cool as your rendering, but you pulled it off brilliantly. Congrats!

HA HA HA!!!! That was funny!!!! Thanks Max, I really needed a laugh today. Great first post Kris. Proof that people don't think before they speak. And I doubt the posers that bashed it will be replying anytime soon. Foolish children. Now where's my twisty straw? :willy:

Looking great Kris, but I beg to differ on your thread title... it's never "finished." :D

At least you're down to minor changes and futzing around. :P
