in-car camera

So has anybody played around with doing in-car video's? What sort of camera mount are you using? Thanks!

handheld digicam...

sort of okay for straight line......

(closed circuit, professional stuntdriver etc. disclaimer:D )

you could of course just tape it to the dash or something.....

I've done a handheld video myself and it wasn't very good....

It gets the point across, but I am just wondering who has had luck with camera mounts. I've researched it a bit and have found some different models, but was hoping somebody here on the board has used one.

Yup! I made my own camera mount out of 1/8" thick flat steel and bolted it to the metal shelf behind the seats.

Very nice Keith! The "Track Vision" that appears at the bottom of the screen, is that a seperate program, or is it something that was provided by that particular track. VERY COOL!

Thanks! Trackvision is a software program that imports data from whatever data logger you use and creates the dashboard overlay that you merge with your video.

A friend used two exhaust clamps welded to a base to clamp it to the cross bar..

Thanks for all the help. I talked to a few other sources and found the following:

http://chasecam.com/ In car camera setups. $$$ but looks pretty good.

Then for mounts I found these guys
http://www.b-hague.co.uk/camera_suct...uum_mounts.htm
Again, not the cheapest in the world, but pretty good looking stuff. On a few euro sites guys swore by these mounts!

Anyway, just thought I would share my findings.

I found the exact same stuff on Ebay that Chasecam sells. I like those small cameras but I also like the 16x9 picture of my Sony HD camera. I'm thinking of keeping the Sony where it is and adding one or two of the 520line SD chasecams in a couple other places on the car. Then splice the different recordings together. Should make a pretty cool video.

I won't take credit for this as it was a collaboration of CC research.

Use the bulletcammounted to the dash or your helmet

and this bad boy has got to be the deal of the century for HD video recordingMustek PVR
