66 Duece /7k is it worth it?
Hey guys, I just clicked the dreaded Buy It Now button.
click here I talked to the guy, and this car is in fact as clean as it looks. There is zero rust on the car, excluding the spots of surface rust where there's no paint. CAr comes w/ 4bolt 350(needs a new timing chain put on that wioll be included, t350 trans that worked well when is was taken out. He has all the trim in good condition, all the interior pieces that are driver condition. Says the headliner needs to be tucked up in the back. brakes are good, everything is there. Did I do good. I think so! But lets hear it! |
hard to say because the link isn't working. Now it's fixed (thanks Rod!) But 66/67 Novas are the highest priced of all the years, so it sounds like a good deal.

Gordz32!
I posted this at Pro-Touring also but are you sure it is a true SS and not a clone? What does the VIN say? If you aren't aware, here is how you can tell if it is an SS or not: 1965 thru 1967 = separate model: look for 17 or 18 in the 2nd and 3rd digits of the VIN. 17 is an SS with a 6-cylinder. 18 is an SS with a V8. Doesn't look too bad but you better watch out what's under the paint! Mine had some very "creative" bodywork and welding done to it and I only found this out after I stripped the car. What kind of driving you going to do with the car? John |
Nope wouldnt buy that for 2K dosent look like a good buy sorry,

I'd be hard pressed to buy a car off ebay without seeing it. I'm assuming that you didn't see it. Especially $7K. $100 maybe. I'd have to place a refrigerator magnet over the WHOLE car. It looks good from the pictures, but so do some women. He is taking pictures of what he wants you to see. Now if there is a clause that upon inspection you find more rust than was disclosed, you didn't have to pay him, it probably is ok. How far are you from him?
|
I'm 5hrs, and I we have an agreement that If for some reason the car isn't as described that I'm walking away no questions asked! Its not a true SS by the way, but that doesn't bother me

I don't think you stole it, but I think the price was fair as long as it doesn't need body work. Brian |
Uh oh.... I see some new ideas coming down the pipe. I don't think it is a bad price at all, finding a decent donor 66/7 is amazingly hard these days.
Yeah baby, deuce time! M |

https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=8190 Rust buckets come a dime a dozen. If anybody wants this one I can direct you to the owner. I'm looking for one in better shape because I am not a welder or fabricator. I want to learn but who am I kidding with a wife, 2 kids, a house, and already 3 projects.:willy: :willy: :willy: |
Good News Everyone! I drove a total of 700 miles today to phoenix from San Diego. And... I brought the car home as well. This car is quite possibly the cleanest 40 year old car ( unrestored of course) that I've every seen. The paint job on it was done prob 6-10 years ago, Aside from the front pass. side fender, every other panel is original and get this RUST FREE!! Glass is perfect, all the trim is there except for the strips that go down the side of the car. Bumpers are decent, nothing I can't hammer out and have re-chromed. I'll post pics tommorow after I spit shine her alittle and see what I'm in for to get her running! Bonus: Still has factory pouch with manual. I think I did well with this buy! No If I can just finish the chevelle First!:wow:

Glad to hear it was a good buy. Please post of those photos when you get it cleaned up.

Good deal. Pics please:captain:
On a side note, I was thinking about the '66 I was about to buy, the guy kept saying "they only made 17000 of these cars that year". Did a little research and the Nova SS with the V8 sold 16800 or so. But it has a powerglide and not the 4 speed. Who's to say it wasn't replaced. Hmmm. And no I didn't check out the VIN when I was there. |
