KD Hot Rods SEMA Camaro

well after saying no more project till we get the 57chevy,33ford,36ford,41willys finished , i again have let my tug boat mouth overload my seamboat ass .
we are taking on a 69 camaro for sema 07 , it will have a new zl1 502 all alluminum bigblock , with a hogan style intake , heidt's front sub ( already there not by our choice ) it also has a heidt's rear ,that's not staying .
20x10 and 19x8 1 off budnik wheels . jason rushforth will be doing the artwork and help with design and colors .
i will load some photos of the start as soon as i go buy a good camera ( i know marty will be happy about that ) .

so now all i have to do is go eat crow about a camaro being in my shop ! lol

68protouring454 02-22-2007 10:30 AM

I have a question for "Mr. Steamboat Ass". Since this car will need to be finished by SEMA, does this mean I can have the boat this summer? Doesn't look like you will have time to enjoy it.

Guys, I know the car and what the owner is looking for as an end result. By the time Kenny and Trav get done, it should be one badass ride.

my advise

1. if it cost less the a set of valve covers it's junk
2. If you get a good deal from a friend it's probably not a good deal.
3. Okay that is enough abuse
4. Buy a Canon as they work great in low light (your shop)
5. Buy a Tri-Pod that way you don't have to worry about happy hands

ps - yep i will be very happy

TravisB 02-22-2007 04:06 PM

he has a canon.........

Ok everyone lets here your real opinion about the mustang two front suspension?

and dennis you can't borrow my boat cause I will be on it! the shop will only be open til 11:00am on the weekends for me!

yes they were 454ci. they use a 454 crank and gm#'s show 510hp / 500ft lbs but like in the 60's "Real World" numbers reflect more like 530hp / 493ft lbs. And only 200 (i think) were produced for sale.

The hardest part will be tring to find something to do to the car that someone doesn't make a bolt on part for so its different in some way.....lol

You got that right! The hardest part of a 69 is getting it low. The motor is set in to damn low and the fenders aren't wide enough in front to turn the tire without rubbing. Other than that it's a piece of cake...

kennyd 03-06-2007 06:51 AM

just a little update , the customer oked the final rendering and style to build the car .i cant show the rendering because the owner dont want the idea to get out .( because some other builder already has been calling to try to get a idea on what we are going to make it look like ) i hate that crap !

and the car showed up and the body looks great . we ordered alot of parts yesterday .
new tko600 5 speed , with paddle shift .
art morrison frt with 14in wilwood brakes
lateral dynamics 3 link rear
one off 19x8 and 20x12 wheels
hogan sheetmetal intake
dse tubs,and closeout panel
ring bros hood hinges
and alot more .

we will get photos of the body as soon as it looks like something . right now it looks like a camaro body in primer .

XcYZ 03-06-2007 06:55 AM

I'm looking forward to seeing it come together.

Knowing Kenny your going to have to read about it. I doubt he will be posting pics since he's not really good with a Camera.

sick65 03-06-2007 07:53 AM

I know building this Camaro is a dream come true for Kenny. It reminds him of the one he had back in the day. From what I understand, the 69 is going to take on the same look. :D

go back to work on the farmall tractor your working on

68protouring454 03-06-2007 10:25 AM

why you so jealous??? , this tractor would fit right in next to the camaro 4x4 build

TravisB 05-22-2007 12:10 PM

Parts have been coming in daily for the camaro. I have been working on it on and off for the last two weeks. We have our morrison front sub in mock up waiting the on the headers. The Lateral Dynamics (www.lateral-dynamics.com) 3 link rear suspension is about 90% completed and I must say for a weld in kit it is awesome. Everything fits and works the way its supposed to. I would reccomend this kit to anyone, the guys over at lateral dynamics (mark and crew) have designed a very killer set up. Easy to install and goes in exactly as shown and the craftsmanship is second to none. Jason Rushforth (www.jasonrushforth.com) has been working with www.evodindustries.com for the 18' and 19' one off wheels. The artwork and wheels will not be shown until right before SEMA. We have a paddle shifter for the manual tremec trans, brakes, airride, fuel tank, some DSE goodies, etc etc . Interior will be done by Tracy Weaver of the recovery room in Nebraska. The car will be displayed in the Nitrous Express booth at SEMA.

stay tuned this project will pick up the pace as we close in on our deadline.
pics coming as soon as they are resized
