Viper vs Z06 which one???
 

okay after reading the "sunday drive" below by StreetKing (just plain awsome i might add) I have to ask this question...

My friend just unloaded his 2005 Viper for a 2007 Z06 and stopped by my place while I was working on the camaro. It was gorgeous Saturday here in North Carolina so we went for a "little jaunt". After hitting the corners hard and hitting the 60 - 170 mph ramp up NUMEROUS times he asked me what I thought compared to the Viper. IN MY OPINION, I just felt the Viper had a bit more bottom end coming out of the corners and just plain more raw power. Now i will give you the Z06 had more feature comforts, more bling and seemed like more top end, but the Viper had the "kick in the pants" power.

Now don't get me wrong, I'd give the right one for either one of the two, but if I had the choice, it's the Viper for me... (maybe I'm biased huh Scott)

My personal preference is the '97 - '99 GTS. Throw a supercharger on it like this one:

and you'll have nearly 600 rwhp. :D

Yes, I think you're a bit biased towards Mopar for some reason. :D

I haven't ridden in either of them so I guess for me it would be a hard comparison. The Viper has more shock value where as the Vette has a sleeker look.

I like where these cars are going, though. The new Viper with that all new V10 that's coming out in '08, and the not so secret Corvette Blue Devil with the supercharged LS9.

Z06, but we all have our own opinions. Both are truly incredible cars, with slightly different character sets.

Z06 is to much like the regular vette. You have to really look at it going down the road to tell. I think it's hot but their is no mistaking a viper. I am a big chevy guy by the way.

The Viper definately wins the gawk factor but it's not the car the ZO6 is. The Viper is alot slower than the ZO6. I have had a Viper in my stable since '96 and I still like them, but no comparision to the Z. I still have a '97 GTS that's Twin Turboed. I had a new '06 Coupe at the end of '05 and got my C6Z in Jan.'06. I sold the '06 Coupe 4 months later. The '06 looked cool after I lowered it, but to me, it was slow and very uncomfortable on the inside..

My wife even made the comment to me when we were driving around in it one day, "you must not like this car, you never want to drive it"...

SW, well said and nice looking Viper. Drove my friends Z06 last week, man what a car out of the box, and with a warranty!! My wife got a new suburban with the Z71 package and it is awesome also. Go GM.

May i please have your probs lol. Car looks good, as said the Viper wins the head turner award but i've heard far to many people say all things equal the vette is faster.

Those new vipers are a sardine can don't get me wrong. In my neck of the woods a viper is a little more unusual. Now a 69 camaro pro touring car is like finding a needle in a haystack. Thats one of the many reasons I am going that direction.
SW my car is going to be very similar to yours. That is my favorite camaro I've seen surfing these sites for a year. I also was lucky enough to sneak into sema and check it out in person.

thanks for the opinion SW, I was hoping you add your .02 to this question. Especially since it seems you have enjoyed them both. I agree with the sardine factor too mentioned above. I've had the pleasure of driving my friends Viper but not the 'vette as of yet. I'm sure my time will come.

A few years ago I had my heart set on buying the new SRT Viper when they first came out.
I went to a dealer and sat in one.. It was ridiculous..
I realize that it is a factory race car but jeez...
Small and cramped.....
It would be hard to operate the pedals in an aggresive fashion..
(I am not that big 6' 2" 200lbs..)
I could not see handing over the money for a car that would be so uncomfortable to drive:mad:
Recently I drove a new C6 and it was much roomier and way more comfortable.
Great car. And I am sure the Z06 is a sick performer.
However, I won't be buying a C6 because IMHO there are just to many of them on the road..

My .02 cents

I've driven the Viper and the torque the V10 has in the corners is ut of sight. Pick a gear any gear and that car pulls hard.
Tight cockpit, my head rubs the roof big time.

I haven't driven the Z06, but I heard its almost as driveable as the Ford GT and super fast when you want it.

I'm a Chevy man you know where my vote is.

That red Viper made me glad I didn't see it for sale or I would have been doing some creative finance things. Dam that arrest me red is cool.

Just saw an episode on speed channel the other night and they pitted these three cars against each other and the Z06 came out on top. It beat it in the 1/4 mile and on track times. They also chose it for better handling on the track. Viper sure does have that killer look to it.

Anyone seen the cover of the latest Motor Trend? 600hp viper. That said id like to see the viper redone. The vette now looks too much like the viper up front.
