Power Tour Plan B

well, it's looking very doubtful to have the Chevelle ready for PT; kinda got hung up on the body prep. So I bought a "plan B" car. Please do not laugh if you see me cruising down the road in it!

It's a 70 Maverick with 8200 original miles. Very clean car, auto trans, and the amazing 200 cid 6 with 105 HP! No ps, no pb (4 wheel manual drums), and no a/c. Perfect for the Tour!

I figure I'll hook a tow strap to Camaro X or the Red Witch so they don't ditch me every day.

Ok

nice photo shop of a 6 cyl over the twin turbo small block ford!:unibrow:

Speedster 03-05-2007 05:52 PM

That's a clean car, even if it is a Maverick...LOL
The interior looks like new. I will bet that straight 6 cannot be killed. Heck you could probably run it on diesel or kerosene and still keep chugging.
Was that from an estate sale ??

98ssnova 03-05-2007 05:59 PM

Man I wish I had the money to buy a plan "b" car must be nice anyways have fun on PT that is the best thing that I have ever been to:yes:

ProdigyCustoms 03-05-2007 06:03 PM

Wow, what a honey! My wheels are turning!

61Bubbletop 03-05-2007 06:19 PM

I would ride with you "shotgun" in there anytime:unibrow: ..That car will be a huge hit on Power Tour....:woot:

zbugger 03-05-2007 06:45 PM

The only thing I'd laugh at is the sight of you getting out of the car. "Hey mommy, how did the giant get in that matchbox car?"

I kinda like the car.....:_paranoid

Mean 69 03-05-2007 06:52 PM

Jody, that car is super-duper cool. I would drive that puppy on Power tour in a second. How many folks here recall FOND memories of tooling around in a car just like that? Although, even twenty plus years ago, none of the ones I rode in were this nice...

I do agree though, how the heck are you going to fit in the thing!!!?

I dig old cars, all of them, and I dig dudes that also dig old cars. Great catch!

Very cool car. I like it and its got to be the nicest low mile one around.

camcojb 03-05-2007 07:22 PM

thanks guys. I actually do fit in it, head doesn't quite hit the roof. Put it this way, I fit much better than I did in the stock 67 Chevelle I had a few months ago.

Ummgawa 03-05-2007 08:39 PM

I told Jody he should put two "Gurney" bubbles for him and Scott on the roof.

awr68 03-05-2007 08:53 PM

Man that thing is clean!! You always seem to find those low mile, very clean rides! 105hp? Make sure Scott packs light. :)

ScotI 03-05-2007 09:49 PM

Very cool & super clean too!

In case nobody else suggests.... 17x7 w/225-45's & 17x8 w/245-45's (17x8 & 9.5's if they fit) American Racing Salt Flats. Get it down towards mother earth 2~3" (eibachs or cut the freakin coils up front) & blocks out back. Slap a sway bar on it & you should still have time to change the oil (:_paranoid not that a 200/6 would ever require maint).

The above appearance package w/some tunes, Dews, & Doritos & I'm pretty sure you'd be good to go the 'Long Haul'.
Prob get some 'rag' ink too  . . ....

AAW 03-06-2007 06:16 AM

Pick me up in Jersey Jody.
A little out of the way, I know, but c'mon. I want to go, too. :theresa:

Pure accident Kurt. Was looking for something cheap and was recalling cars from when I was in high school. Thought of the Maverick (friend had a Grabber with a 302 and 4 speed) and did a search on collectorcartrader.com and found it.

Back in high school I had one of those for a short while, 'cept mine was a 3 speed.

I've seen it in person and touched it.

It is 100% badass.

All it's missing is Grandma's Bingo cards in the glove compartment.

The thing is super-clean and very original, I was very impressed with it and the level of correctness & preservation. If it were me I'd cut it up and piss off the die hard Maverick guys-- I know they're out there! :wow:

By the way Jody, I know where there's a 4-door '69 Chevelle with 14K original miles on it in minty condition... 2 owner car. I believe it still has the original tires & belts!

DON'T tell JODY that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or else he will be on Plan C, cause this one will be in pieces too.....

CRCRFT78 03-07-2007 06:20 PM

I'd roll that until the wheels fell off just the way it is. Bone stock original. VERY COOL.

that will be the plan IF I keep the car. But a stock 6 for the Tour, no time for anything else.
