What do you think the most important aspect of life is?

I was just curious to see what you guys thought the most important thing in life is. We all come from different backgrounds and were raised in different places and environments. Currently I firmly believe being happy is the most important thing in life hands down. My girlfriend is all wrapped up in money and prestige. She'd rather me work for a bunch of backstabbers and liars and make really good money and have a "status" than to do the job i love and make decent money. Surley im not the only one that can live life and be happy while Im here!

Beegs 03-15-2007 08:22 PM

Trick is to be happy as you bump along from day to day. My father is constantly saying he'll be happy when he gets this or that done.

Problem is, this or that is EVERY day for as long as you live.

XcYZ 03-15-2007 08:53 PM

Family, period.

My faith, family, and friends. If you have your priorities in line, you will be happy.

RedRyder 03-15-2007 10:10 PM

I've been told it's God first, Family second, and everything else third.....and I believe it. But my Charger is way up there in that third category....

Find something that makes you happy, just for you, never mind what anyone else thinks, as long as it makes you happy without harming others... for me it's little things... a nice ride on my sportbike to the beach with my wife, a couple beers with a buddy working on a project car, adding 10lbs to my bench press, etc... just little things day to day that make you smile....

RussMS 03-18-2007 06:42 PM

God, Family, Family, Family, Pursuit of Happiness, Balance.

The older I get the more the last one tends to make sense.

mdprovee 03-19-2007 08:35 AM

It's all about the family.

Scotch 03-19-2007 11:40 AM

I'd have to agree...

Doing your best to be the kind of person others look up to- especially those in your family who look to you for support and depend on you to live, that's pretty important.

The cool part is that this same philosophy carries into the professional world as well. If you always do your best, you'll never have any regrets.

Be a good person, and treat everyone well.

Do what you say you're going to do.

Don't be scared to tell people how much you love them.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

That's all pretty important to me, and when I stick to it all I find myself happy.

I agree wholeheartedly. Imagine this: Imagine a steel ball the size of Earth. Picture one ant walking around the circumference of this steel sphere. As the ant walks and walks and walks, it slowly wears a path in the sphere. The ant continues to walk until there is nothing left of the sphere. The time it takes for this to happen is the first day of eternity.

Once you die, you will spend eternity in pain and suffering or in joy.

I know many people will disagree with me, but why would you risk it? There is only one way to spend eternity in joy. I can explain more if anyone is interested.

"That" my friends is the most important thing in my life.

almcbri 04-01-2007 06:56 PM

my relationship with christ, and my family

Herb68 02-08-2008 12:41 PM

What a great bunch of people!

My priorities are also God, family, everything else. The great thing is when I keep these straight, everything seems to fall into place.

Don't get me wrong, things do go wrong sometimes, it just doesn't matter that much. I'm just a big mirror reflecting God's love on my wife and anyone else who isn't hiding in the shade!

My wife would say the house is at the top of the "everything else" list, but now that I installed the reclining seats in my Camaro, who needs shelter?

Modmach1 02-08-2008 12:47 PM

25 years and single and right now the most important thing is money and my cars..dont seem to ever get enough money for my cars though...

ArisESQ 02-08-2008 03:44 PM

Family before everything else. Past that it doesn't even matter to me how you order it, but as long as I am capable of supporting myself and what I want to do, then I'm good to go.

ItDoRun 02-08-2008 04:58 PM

Christ then family. Glad to see others proclaiming their faith. You don't hear those proclamations much anymore.

I was just thinking that too...

Mine are my God, my wife, my kids, other family and friends, work then everything else. Sometimes I catch myself with one or two out of order but I think we all do from time to time...

(Thank you God for loving me in spite of myself!)

Watt Earp said it best " at the end of the day all we have left is family "

Alex396ss 02-14-2008 07:50 AM

I´m really surprised that so many of you puts god up there with family, sometimes even above.

No disrespect to your religious thoughts, just me not being used with that.

Maybe ´cause I live in Sweden and barely go to church...

God 1st, your 2nd, I'm 3rd

He is the first priority in my life

Sorry, but humans will all be better off once we get past bronze age mythologies.

My goals in life are to ethically pursue my own personal happiness in partnership with my wife's ethical pursuit of her happiness. After that, we have children to educate and guide so that they can responsibly pursue their own happiness.

Collectively, we humans have a responsibility to each other to ensure our posterity inherits a habitable and peaceful Earth. The size of the universe has isolated us here in our miniscule little ball of dirt, iron, and water. There's nobody coming to rescue us; we have to do it ourselves. There's a lot of work to do.

Anyone who wants to know the True God and Father and His Son the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth...They will reveal Themselves to that person.

And when They do They begin to reveal a perfect plan They have for us... that we couldn't dream of or execute on our own.

What will stop it?

Pride and/or a lack of trust(faith) in the Only Beings Who can't disappoint us.

Of my own free will I have chosen to believe the Creators of the universe are someone I should listen closely to them quietly leading me in the way I should go.

The rewards are many...one is great peace no matter what is going to happen in this murderous world.

For those who don't want to acknowledge a Creator greater than themselves...The Lord will not interupt your life...your 'free will' He has given all of us.

Well, GM Muscle, I hate to be an a$$, but after almost a year since your original post, I hope your gf has matured a bit, or perhaps you have a new one. I could not imagine being happy very long under that kind of pressure. You will never be "good enough" in her eyes.

the camtender 03-04-2008 05:50 PM

I was just about to ask the same thing, how's she working out for you ?

MarkM66 03-04-2008 06:16 PM

I agree, family first.

After that I just want to make living doing something that I don't hate/dread, or allow to come first in my life. I work to live, not the other way around.
