I read this in the paper also. This would suck big time. I have already sent out a mass email. I WILL NEVER RUN A FRONT LICENSE PLATE ON MY CAMARO! Yep...I said NEVER.

Wow, we've had those stupid things for at least 10 years. How to instantly make the nose of your car look like S***.
You should see the the emissions crap we have to go through too. We're almost as bad as CA.:censored: |
They don't enforce that law where I live. However if they need a reason to pull you over they can and will use the no front plate law.

She's kinda hot. :_paranoid
Seriously, what good would come of it? We have a front plate law in CO and its another one of the widely ignored laws that make people think all laws can be ignored. |

Yeah, that won't work in Maryland! Hell, we have to bolt tags to the 1/4s too! Ok, maybe not. But, unless you are running historic tags, they don't seem to like a missing front tag. Although, I did get away with it on my Trans Am for a few years, while my wife got pulled over twice in DC for no front tag on her Miata. Damned front tag is almost as big as a Miata! Shiny Side Up! That sucks. It is a stupid law that most people don't follow anyway. My Nova does not have it's plates on the front and I live in soCal. Like Jonny51 stated, they will use it as an excuse to pull you over. Out here I think they are primarily for the traffic camara's that are installed all over the place. I am planning on moving to Charlotte in July. I might get a house on the south carolina side to avoid the vehicle inspections, and the lower taxes. So far we really like the Concord area. My wife is looking for a job as a kindergarten teacher, and I will move my residential/comercial alarm company out there. I am only looking at homes with a large enough back yard to build a kick butt garage / work shop. I am looking forward to meeting some of you after we move.

california has a law requiring front plates, but in the past six years I haven't had a front plate, and have yet to get a ticket for it. It's just one of those things that you get a ticket for if you actually piss off a cop for whatever reason.

This sucks I am form Maryland but live in NC now still have my MD tags though, registration is paid for another year so I won’t switch until then. I have never run a front tag on any of my vehicles in Maryland got pulled 3 or 4 time always gave some BS excuse about how I was in an accident or it fell off or what ever it took to get out of a ticket. Down here in NC no one even notices I don’t have a front tag. If this goes through I will just have to register my stuff in South Carolina.

If you guys could send a email to all the car guys you know and get them to send this woman a email, that would help.
Also, send a email to all the car dealerships in your area.:hail: |

As of 3/13/07, Senate Bill S673 has been referred to the Committee on Transportation. The committee meets on Wednesdays at 11:00am. I guess they are going to discuss it further.
Here is a link to the Transporation Committee Chairman. Senator Larry Shaw, Cumberland County Representative: http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/gascript...r=S&nUserID=27 Here is a link showing a list of all the Transporation Committee members. Look for your representative and send them an email expressing your discontent. http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/gascript...Transportation Dear Senator / Representative __________________, I would like to express my discontent with Senate Bill S673 (Session 2007-2008). This bill is written to require the Division of Motor Vehicles to issue dual license plates on vehicles, one in the rear and one in the front. Pros 1. Registration numbers visible from the front (although verification that the registration is current is only visible from the rear) Cons 1. The time and money expended to enact and maintain the requirements of this bill would be more than it is worth. 2. Many vehicles are not designed to accept a front plate. It would require these vehicles to be modified. Why should we citizens accept the added expense to make these modifications? 3. Because many vehicles are not designed to accept front plates, the modification required would be very awkward looking. This takes away from the good looks of vehicles that we citizens take so much pride in. Basically, I do not see the reason why this bill is even being introduced. It does not seem to offer any real positive contribution to society. It only seems to expand the government's demand on us citizens. I am asking that you do not support this bill. |
