Reggie Jackson's 69 LSX
I just picked up the May issue of Super Chevy, I was pleasantly supprised to see the pic of our pedal covers in the car. I had seen some pics of the car on the web and was wondering who was going to do the story on it. The engine compartment is one of my top two, the other is Steven Rupp's "Penny." I haven't decided which I like best.

Real happy for your good press Shannon, your pedals are fantastic. I have to disagree on the underhood of Reggies LSX. Up close it is sloppy at best. They painted the fender bolts and clips! The firewall has a horrible x ray of the old heater opening. When I was approached at PRI by someone for GM Performance, they asked what I was looking at. I pointed out the painted bolts. He went on to explain that Reggie was a purest (BTW, I know Reggie and have sold him cars), and he wanted the car to look stock.
I am confused, where the fender bolts on Camaros painted? I hate to pick on anyones stuff, lord knows we have our faults. I guess the painted bolts are a pet peeve. |
Thanks for the compliment Frank.
I haven't noticed any of that. I guess I have always been fixed on the engine. I haven't seen the car in person though. |
Im going to have to through my .02 in ......I saw reggies car at autorama and I thought under the hood was not that nice......It looked really bad......I thought It looked better in pictures then in person ...So I think Penny would Win!
Pedals look awsome! |
pics please?

I was at at Autorama also. Did anyone one notice the rusted out corner of the dash on the drivers side?
IMO, not up to par for what Reggie wants for his cars. R.P. |

"clearing my throat".....I would like to appologize to Steven Rupp and retract my earlier statement. I had no idea that the car was not what it appeared to be in the pics.:(
I like Rupp's best..... |
First, props to Shannon...nice pedals!
Second, I guess what really gets me about this car is in the origional outline of the build they said they wanted to blend modern day technology with a old muscle car. In my mind that doesn't include a carb when you are GMPP and have MPFI available. Now for the average builder this would be kick ass!!! And I know they were using the car to debut the new LSx block...but still, a carb when you have his check book and their availale parts to choose from?? |

Tuff crowd,
Reggies car is amazing if you only knew what GM Performance started with. The car was built in less than 6 weeks. No excuses, just a reality of a corporate build. This engine rocks! Reggie after his initial drive, said that he has never driven a car that pulls with that kind of torque for that long! This car is a real tire burner... Painted bolts or not! The LSx engine is awesome. |
There's no doubt it's a bad ass car. I think it's great that Reggie built a g-machine - especially since he's more known for his collecting of rare cars. As for the LSX, it's going to turn the aftermarket world upside down. I'm not wild about the graphics on the cowl, but hey, the color is great! :D

Got my issue yesterday - interesting read.
Didn't GMPP blow the car apart and refit/paint? It's going to be an interesting future between the LSX and the upcoming Dart block that will take LS heads! |

nice car, but I could do without the rims or the boring engine compartment. But then again we are known for being a little over the top with that stuff.
|
Ya know, with the popularity of the LS motor and the ability to run carburetors, I am surprised that someone has not come out with a cross ram intake/carb set up for one. Knowing the popularity of the 69 Camaro taken to the extreme, seems like a Balls Out 69 "Z" (note the quotes), with all the wicked stuff suspension wise, brake wise, interior wise, yada yada yada (I mentioned the Bisque, LOL) seems like a next logical step. 427 LS with cross ram that runs like crap unless its above 4500 RPM's.(Like the originals)
Maybe it one of those questions that doesn't need to be asked. |

I like the car. I have not seen it up close, but it looks like a really nice car that Id be proud to own.

The emblem was designed specifically for the Reggie project. Reggie is a real historian of Chevrolet and GM trivia and requested that the emblem be representational of the historic cross-flag designs of the past.
The LSx emblem was designed for the crate motor program and it will be used on the motor. Look for The Reggie Jackson Camaro this summer. It will be used extensively at many events across the country. Also look for it on March 31 on the premier hour long show 'Hot Rod TV'. This will be on at 10:30 AM eastern on ESPN 2. |
Sorry correction on the time for Hot Rod TV 10:00 AM EST or Tuesday April 3 at 5PM EST.

I think that logo would sell like hot cakes. Who can make me a couple?:unibrow:
