Dead Cat on the ground
Long time since I have posted up any pics. Shots of brake lines being run or dynamat being installed is not too exciting. Interior guy came to the house this weekend to put the headliner in, so I thought I would shoot a couple fo shots of the car on the ground. The back is still a little high, but should come down another inch or so.
I changed my mind and instead of using my EZwire kit I spoke with Ray at AAW and ordered a Highway kit from them. It should be in this week. Once it is wired I it will be ready to fire. |
Looks Great Payton!

Car looks great Payton. Your getting one step closer..
|
Wow, looks awesome!
|
looks great! I always wondered how the C6 wheels were going to look when you got it finished. I really like it!
|
You're doing a great job Payton. You'll also be happy with the AAW kit, it's top notch.

The kit will arrive today. It's in your town already - I tracked it. Enjoy! |
Lookin good Payton, you are almost there..
|
Damn that's hot!
|
Can't wait to hear the engine startup ! Looking great Payton !!
|
Thanks for all of the kind words!
It takes a lot of time to finish one of these cars, but I don't need to tell you guys. Hey look! I used "you guys" instead of y'all.
Theresa you were right. My wiring kit is sitting on my desk now. The C6 rims actually look better on the car than they do in the pics. The straight cut spokes complement the straight lines of the car and fender openings. I am not sure they would look as good on a 68. Things are really coming together and I hope to start ging updates on a regular basis. If anybody has any good ideas for flat door panel designs, I would love to hear about or see them. I am tryin to come up with a design now. My door bars are keeping me from using anything but a flat panel. |
Looks great Payton!

I was out cursing around in the convertible on Sunday for an hour or so I was going to give you call and see if you were working on the car and see if I could stop buy. I guess I should have called.
|
I love RS's with hockey stick graphics!!!
|
Looking great
Now when she fires, we need a video to hear it. Congrats on the progress! |
looking awesome. What kinda backspacing do you have on the rear? You aren't using spacers are you?
|
Looking great. Keep it up.
|
Thanks again guys
The rear was built for the rim and tire package. I am using a small spacer for a centering ring. 9 inch centers up with the lugs.
Brian, I was out there saturday and sunday. Feel free to come by anytime. My cell is 704-564-5877. You pass right by my exit everytime you come down to the shop. I am off Idlewild at 485. So the shop car is back up and running. Has anything else been done to the car? Scott has already hit me up for some video. I will take some when I fire it for the first time. I will have to be careful as not to make it too pornographic becasue I am sure that I will be sportin' wood. |
The shop car is back on the road it had major trany leak and got put away in the corner and we were just too busy to work on it. I finally decided to start working on it in my spare time got all the leaks fixed, finally found where that terrible miss was coming from. Put the rest of the interior together and we actually have gages now. We bought a Covans dash insert. I have heard several complaints about the quality of these, but I though it was a very nice piece and the American Autowire wiring kit it came with made the installation easy. I worked out the rest of the wiring gremlins the only thing left to do is get the RS head light doors functional.
I give you a call this Saturday after noon. |
Looks great Payton. I know you are excited to get it running. Car looks super. Send some pics of the subframe/engine bay
As always keep us posted with updates. |
Hey Jay!
here are a couple of old pics of the motor and suspension. I will update these soon as well.
Will you be at the Auto Fair? Brian, just give me a shout. |
Wow...awesome!
What shade of Yellow is that? |
The color
is Dodge Viper Racing Yellow...it really pops in the sunlight. It is very close to Chrome Yellow used on the 90's mustangs.
|
Payton,
I plan to be there on Friday. I'll call you and we'll meet up. Engine bay looks awesome. |

I thought about Screaming Yellow ('05-'06 Mustang) before I settled on Millenium Yellow ('06 Z06). |
I like the hood. Did that style of hood come on a 69 from the factory?
R.P. |
Great car, Payton. You're in the home stretch now.
|
Hell yea Payton.. the stance is DEAD ON!
I bet you're getting excited now.. looks to be a good summer for ya! |
the car looks great, good job.
|
Oooh, I do feel like I am in the home stretch
The car really is low. the top of the fender near the windshield is on 32 inches tall. Thanks for the good words Steve. Will you be covering the Year One event?
That is a stock 1st gen SS hood Roger. When you ordered up an SS you got the SS hood or you could opt for a cowl induction hood. |
