71RS Pro-Touring update 2nd November 2009

Hi all, I thought I would post my project here.
I allready post at PT.com since the early days (2000~2001) and am lurking for a while on lateral-G.

My name is Martin and I live in the Netherlands....have my car since 1998, finished it after a few years, drove it daily for 1.5 year and then started over again to make it even better.

The whole story with pics is on my page....
www.pro-touring.nl
for the ones who allready visited my site before; latest update is on page 35

Hi Jan...no plans yet...just hope to finish it this year... I just gave up my job after 15 years to go free-lance... so besides my allready planned holiday to Mallorca I am not going anywhere.

I hope to visit the Vasteras meeting sometime though....

I attached the pics so they should be visible now.

jannes_z-28 04-09-2008 03:15 PM

What color is it going to be?

Any trips north in the plans?

Jan

Martin71RS 04-10-2008 02:03 AM

Hi Jan, it will be the same silver again, Alfa Romeo Grigio Chiaro 612.....
No trips planned since all our money is going into the house at the moment, also doing some upgrading there :)

I went to look at it this morning and is was in the paintbooth....(very hot inthere!)They worked till 9 last night....

It is in filler primer now and the door jambs and inside of the trunk are in color allready.....I am sooooo happy :)

All these "paint jail" stories.....I must have a very good painter...I think the whole process will take under 2 weeks!

Looking good - I can't wait to see it finished in color

Martin71RS 04-16-2008 04:27 AM

Started on putting everything back on it, still not finished but almost there.
Also had it appraised for the insurance yesterday.
I will modify the exhaust soon, pipes are too long in the back.

Martin71RS 07-07-2008 02:05 AM

finally went to my first meeting....

I had to repaint the right inner fender last week since it didn't look good, now it does.

Still have to finish off the AC and reupholster the rear seat and some small stuff.

driving home late I was at a traffic light and some guys in a car next to me rolled down the windows to listen to my car (don't we all do that?) so when we left the lights I just rolled out slowly and when they were ahead of me I floored it.....

I passed them and kept on it...late and an empty road....then somewhere around the 40~50mph the wheels started spinning so I let off the gas and corrected the car.

even though the road was a bit wet I never experienced this, knew the motor has power but this is cool

Now finally I can start driving it again.....very happy about that!
