my thoughs om detroit trutrac differential

well its been 2 weeks breaking in the new Moser rear with detroit trutrac diff.
no noise from the rear at all
turns like an open diff.
I did a huge burnout today and all I can say is WOW!
hooks up like a spool!
both marks are same width and exactly same length 80.5 ft.
Im very impressed to say the least.
need new tires now lol.

Thank the maker! That is what I am running in my Moser 9", can't wait to see how it performs. I have heard nothing but good things about the TruTrac, I was hoping it wasn't too noisy or clunked around corners. Thanks for the info!

ProdigyCustoms 04-24-2007 12:52 PM

Yup, we sell tons of them and everybody loves them.

ccracin 04-24-2007 01:16 PM

Good to hear, that's what is going in our truck. I ran them in my circle track cars, but noise was not an issue then. Not that I could have heard it anyway!

About how much does one cost Frank?

mazspeed 04-24-2007 03:58 PM

I have it on mine and it's just a killer piece. I am currious about how much power it can take. Will see. :unibrow:

Steve1968LS2 04-24-2007 07:41 PM

This is good to know since I have one in my Camaro

ProdigyCustoms 04-24-2007 07:46 PM

12 bolts or 9" complete rears are just north of a couple grand.

How well would it work on a autocross course? I'm trying to get my car ready for year one and I defintly want to address this area.

ProdigyCustoms 04-27-2007 12:42 PM

It is the perfect autocross rear. open in the corners and locked up tight on ths straights under load.

DAWG 04-27-2007 12:48 PM

I agree 100%

69Nova 04-27-2007 12:49 PM

Ok. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll look into ordering one soon.

ProdigyCustoms 04-27-2007 02:33 PM

Just let me know Andrew, we will take care of you.

69Nova 04-27-2007 03:32 PM

Defintly. Now I just need to find someone to do it. I dont really know anyone I want to do it.

DAWG 04-27-2007 03:40 PM

actually if you got a tranny shop nearby they will tell you the best one to install it in your area.
dont attempt to set it up on your own.
there is alot to set up a rear properly.

Good idea. I'll stop by the shop I use on Monday and see what he says.

I took the car out again this time with slicks to set up the slide a link bars.
darn thing hooks like no tomarrow
caught a little air in the front lol (first time that happened )
set up the slide a links and the car is on rails now!
straight as an arrow

I have one in my 73 camaro 10 bolt (8.5) and it has been great no noise and lays downs nice stripes. I bought mine new for a 28 spline axle for $350 good price and quility.

DocDave 04-28-2007 06:52 PM

Thanks for the 411 on the Tru Trac. I have been thinking of getting one for my project. This review seals the deal.

DAWG 04-29-2007 06:24 AM

yeah when I called Moser for the new rear I asked what the best diff was.
he said hands down the tru trac.
he aslo stated that the tru trac isnt disireable for off road truck apps .
which doesnt concern me.

Boulder69 05-05-2007 07:44 PM

I had one in the rear of my 72 GMC Jimmy and it kicked arse. 400+ hp to 4.10s and 35" tires and I never had an issue. I beat the crap out of it and never had an issue. I plan on putting one in my 12 bolt when the posi starts to go south.

pdq67 05-08-2007 12:12 PM

12-bolt True Trac application!!

How much power can it take b/c I'd rather burn clutches in my stock posi- than break teeth is all..
