Damn price of OEM parts!
This stuff is crazy expensive.
I was going to buy a NOS Camaro rear panel for Penny. Found on one eBay and was the top bidder at $295 for quite some time. Had to go out so I couldn't be home in the last hour of the auction. My mistake. I set my max bid to $452 and hoped for the best. I was owned by the bidding. lol http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6537&rd=1&rd=1 Went for $585.01 I really needed this part, oh well.. anyone know where another is for sale? |
correct me if im wrong........ but if it fits..... the first time........ and doesn't require 10 hours of body work to make it right then it is probably a deal at twice the price???
i am getting soooooooooooooooo sick of aftermarket parts!!!!! is anyone listening?????????? that don't fit, don't have all the parts required to work, don't ship when they say they will, Oh did i mention don't FIT!!!! some one needs to tell me the answer to this question. guy wants headers installed order headers send out to be creamic coated 2 weeks go by waiting for headers to come back go to install headers........... hum don't fit, get hammer screw up brand new coated headers. takes an extra 4 hours to install them, hummmmm WHO PAYS?? manufacturing company ? not friggin likley Customer, not really his fault " well you said it would take 4 hours and now you want me to pay you for 8? guess that leaves ME......... AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! new saying It uses bolts to hold it on, i have no idea how long it will take! Rant over Good luck finding another |
I had great luck with price and availability of NOS panels from Chevy Classics of San Diego.
Talk to Gregg seven-six-zero 941-5232 Jody |
Amen Blake! We struggle with this everyday. Find ourselves in situation where we simply CANNOT charge the customers the hours it took because of poor fit or performance. I know some shops can, but those shops are empty and were a dozen deep, so, I guess it is all part of it. So we just lose money on every deal and make it up in volume!

My problem is two fold.
Not only are the aftermarket parts getting pricey AND fit like crap, but the supply is running short because of high demands for these parts. I had needed two quarters for the Stang project and everyone only had the passenger sides available. I was told 2-4 week lead time for the driver side. Not as easily said. I was attempting a fastback conversion on this conv. and needed BOTH before I started because of the difficulty in matching the deck lid to the quarters. Long story short, 2-4 weeks turned into 6 and I couldn’t touch the car until all the parts were here. I lost out on 6 weeks of precious build time. Those 6 weeks will make or break me in the up coming weeks! |
I have a call into a guy that deals in nos
stuff. He is checking and is going to call me back. Need quarters too?
|
Found you a set of quarters
He is checking on the tail pan. I should know something and a price soon

Steve -
Is the '67 panel the same (PN 7710985)? I have on hanging on the wall in the garage. Shoot me an email ([email protected]) or give me a call.

I just want a NOS tail panel to ensure good fitment. Goodmark is retooling this part but it wont be ready for 2 months. Oh, and I want OLD NOS.. not "GM part but was ran at the end when the die was nearly dead" part. lol |

In good news I did win a pair of nice trunk hinges for $30... :) |
Steve,
You should call Heartbeat city. Before finding a NOS rear panel myself, I had purchased one of Heartbeat city's rear panels. It's a very nice American made panel not one of the repops from Asia. I had it on my car to begin fitting panels and it fit very nicely. Although, I have to say the NOS panel does fit a bit better. I believe the cost is around $450. Their website is Heartbeatcity.net Mike |

Gregg was a nice guy and had ONE NOS panel left in stock. I bought it up for $550 and he's going to even deliver it to BOS so I save shipping. :woot: He also has a few other little parts I need. Thanks to everyone else for the offers of help! |
Hey Steve, little off the topic - but how's our little crash-test-dummy/PHR Editor feeling now ?? (physical and mental trauma)

sorry, you are correct. Glad it worked out, he was great with me too, met me within two hours of my house to pick it up, instead of the 8-9 hours I would have had to go if I didn't want to chance shipping it. Jody |

Well yesterday we finally started the motor, ran killer, got everything checked for leaks, it was all good there, throw out bearing failed. Called Red at McLeod and they overnighted a better fixed unit, and it we should have it tomorrow morning. Right now the exhaust, the tranny, the supercharger is all out of the car and the carb has not yet be tuned for the supercharger as of yet and the ride hight in the front has not been done. The deadline for the show is Friday night. It WILL get done. I pray at least. :willy: |
