Stripped!!
4 Attachment(s)
It's been a pretty big weekend! I just finished the big tear down for paint. I'm going to finish a few loose ends and then paint the SF and bottom, get it back to a roller, and then it's off to Chris (race-rodz) for body and paint!! It's been 5.5 years to get this far...time is very limited, but I work on it when I can! :) I'll attach some torn down pics from today as well as some from the other day to show how mocked up it really was. The SF is torn down now as well and ready to be sand blasted.
Also, I talked to a engine builder last week and the LT1 will be going in soon for machine work and bottom end assembly with all the new forged parts and blower pistons. Meanwhile the heads will go in for porting. Things are finally moving forward!! Just had to share!! |

It's a parallel 4-bar that I built. I started with a 4-bar kit from AME...but there's not much left of that! I basically hand built the whole thing!! It was a ton of work and if DSE's Q-Link was available back then I would have bought it! |
Looking WicKeD! Cant wait to see some paint on it.
|
WoooHooooo!
|
Anthony - looking great! What's your paint color gonna be?
|
Looking good Anthony.
|
like it.

Thanks Guys for the kind words...it helps get threw all the loooong hours!!
The paint color is a story in itself and almost changes daily...sorry Chris! It was going to be silver, I really like the silver on my wife's Acura TL. But, now that I've seen it mocked up I'm thinking the car has more attitude than I origionally thought it would and that it needs a little more 'color' than silver, so I think its back to blue (my origional choice). At the moment I'm really liking Lemans Blue (C6 Z06) but I need to see it in person...:_paranoid Jen and I sat down and looked at a lot of members car pics (thanks Scott!!) yeasterday and she helped me make some decisions I was on the fence with...glad to have a cool wife that actually has input on the car! Again thanks for the kind words! I know tear down pics aren't as fun to look at as paint pics. I'll keep you guys in the loop with the final paint choice! ;) |
Lemans Blue would be awsome on that car.

:faint: Oh God, no! Please, don't kill the car with blue.... |
i vote for blue

huh????? How does blue kill a car? I think it would be great on your car, Anthony. |

FWIW, it would look basically like this..but with no front bumper, no front spoiler and probably stock mirrors...think Red Witch! This is a rendering I had done years ago, I guess you could say I've gone full circle, color wise. |
i would personally do blue over silver, but thats just me.
i also kinda think purple might look cool on a 67 or 68, but that may be a little too much. |
Anthony, the car looks awesome. I am a fan of the dark metallic blue like you have chosen, but with a set of Silver ralley stripes would look killer.
|
I like the blue, but I am not sure if about the LT1. I had a 96 Z28 and man did it take alot of money to get thtat thing to move. I got into 12.90s but it took every bolt on I could think of. The LS1 is a better choice but if you are going with it because it is readily available then by all means, what do I know.

Tony,
Big step ahead, then it is "just a matter" of getting it back together.:unibrow: Gonna be a great car. Jan |
I like the blue on the new Z06, if not that, maybe a midnight blue metallic would look nice also.
I'm sort of in the same boat since mine is ready for color within a couple of weeks. My car was originally windward blue, which is about like the blue on top of this website. So I originally wanted to maintain that to some degree. I asked a friend who is the PPG paint rep for Minneapolis, and he said that whatever I did...don't paint it blue. I asked why, he said blue doesn't sell. No-one does blue. He knows what he's talking about, his personal bike was just featured in Hot Bike magazine and he's a big part of the local hot rod scene. That may not help you...but it helped me. FWIW, I love blue, my truck is blue, so this isn't meant to offend any fellow blue car owners! |
Who cares if it won't sell, unless you have plans on selling it. I say paint it whatever color you want. My truck will be blue and thats about the only thing I haven't changed my mind on since I started my project. Isn't the whole reason behind building a car to make your own, to build something different?
|
Sorry but I disagree with the blue not selling...I know of some blue higher dollar cars that sold no problem. I'm sure a red camaro or 32 Ford would sell in a heartbeat...but blue cars sell to guys like me that love them.
I have no intent of ever selling this car, it will go to my son and actually is already stated in my will that it is his. Any projects after this car could be sold...but this one is special. I like all colors, but have to admit some of my favorite camaros have been blue. Red would look nice and we were thinking of going with it a while back, but have changed our minds. My wife said either silver or blue and that's it. Today I still like the C6 Z06 blue.... :) |
Good progress Anthony, and go with what you want, it's yours. Beside, blue is a good color, not like you are trying to paint it some god awful color.

Anthony, A Midnight-styled blue would be good. I figured it was going to be run-of-the-mill medium blue. Everyone has a medium blue of some type. Kind of a "safe" color IMHO. My choice would be a Carbon color. Almost black, but when it is in the sun, the edges on off-angle sections of the car will be a dark metallic/pearl gray. Here is a "similar" example from a '72 Chevelle. That is not 100% what I mean, but it's the closest I could find... http://members.cox.net/bretw/P1020797(1).JPG |
Great progress Anthony. I'm jealous. As for paint, I'm an odd one. I think you should copy the C4 GS paint scheme. Blue, with the white stripe, and the red stripes on the driver's fender...... Then again, I sniff exhaust fumes a little too often.:faint:
|
Probably go with a dark blue with gray rally stripes, just a suggestion.

But I do agree the LSx is a way better motor to start with...just a little too late for this build! |
Dropped of the SF tonight for media blasting and will have it back by weeks end. Can't wait to have it painted and reassembled!
|
That's awesome, Tony! I'm stoked for you. :woot:
|
Wow. I love the stance!!
And....Oh yeah, my favorite car color is blue by a mile. |

i like the vette blue, and i normally dislike blue, anthony has my vote for a color, but its also a lil "hardcore" for most:unibrow: |

|

Check out the blue on the new Toyota Camry. Very brilliant!
What's the height of your car on the rotisserie when it's turned on it's side? I'll be building one in about 4-5 weeks (after I drop the car off for sheetmetal replacement) and need one that allows my car to fit under an 8foot ceiling when it's on it's side. |

I know, but inbetween Gymnastics, picking up, dropping off, working on the MF'n VW DD which will be for sale real soon, Going Nissan again, time is scarce and that plain sucks, at least the G/F is on my side with car work:hail: |

The car is 6.5' off the ground when on it's side and the top of the rotisserie spreader is 6" off the ground. Have fun building it, it's a fun project!! |
