I have noticed that PHR and their writing group always tell you a story in every feature. Even if the car is not your style or taste you always get a kick out of reading the article because you learn something about the owner of the ride. This is so much better then detailing the specs of the car in written form that other magazine usually write. Bye the way Paul, Steve is nice guy and all but do not suck up to him. He has a big enough ego as it is. All you are doing is inflating it even more. :willy: R.P. |
lol, Not trying to suck up...Its just that Super Chevy has been Sucking the last
Couple months and it was great to see a great example of pro-touring... |

Actually they asked me to be in thier LS issue. They wanted a story that told more about the experience of putting in an LSx engine than just a regular "car feature". The cover was a bonus since we nailed (Harrington and myself) a great shot. We both took the shots in the story and I wrote it. It was a blast. Yea, I like to tell a story with my stuff, even Hometown. A car is a bunch of parts, it's the "story" that's interesting. <-- no ego.. ok, maybe some... :_paranoid |

Note to everyone. It's important for the pro-touring segment that these issues do well on the newstand since it will show that the build style has a fan base, so buy an issue if you can. Oh John, I was going to edit your link to show my issue, but I thought that was mean.. lol Available on a newstand near you: http://www.lifeinwidescreen.com/siihp/ruppcover.jpg |

Anyways, that shot was taken by Mike Harrington and involved about $600 in special lighting. I set up my equipment in the interior and then poped the flashes when Mike took the shot. I thought having the guy welding in the background would be cool. The place is an old aircraft machine shop that is now used as a hot rod fab shop. The 20 Ton crane works and they use it to pull engines. lol The old machines are CINCINATTI lathes and are HUGE. Cool place for a shoot. |
i'd take two :D that is one well done ride
|
I can't imagine how much fun (and educational) getting to visit and get to know people in shops like those. That's the story - and most people never get to see and hear about it. Thanks for the back story Steve !
And, that is one cool setup and shot ! Definitely a wall poster. |
