To narrow or not to narrow...

Okay, I am a little confused after some research.

It seems many 1st gen Camaros which are minitubbed with 12" wide wheels and 335s are running a slightly narrowed rear end, but then some others are not. But it also seems the backspacing I am seeing on these 12" wide wheels are almost always the same (consensus after contacting several people is either 6" or 6.125"). How is this so?

FYI, I have a stock length Currie 9" and plan to run a modified "dog-legged" Air Bar 4 link with home-fabbed minitubs.

Can someone enlighten me here?

thank you

Why not? Maybe dog-leg isn't the exact word for it, but my builder talked to the guys at Air Ride recently and said it can be done and that they can modify it for a customer for a small extra fee.

??

It all depends on the wheel and back space.
You can run a stock width rear and just run more back space.

Or do what I prefere and order your wheels with less back space and narrow the rear. This allows you to have that deep lip for more of a pro-street look.

I just prefer that look when it comes to a car that's mini-tubbed. I could have went with any backspacing I wanted, but I chose 6" on a 12" wheel. It just looks right to me I guess.

Hey Scott, what do you mean by "that look" exactly?

And is your rear stock length or narrowed?

thanks!

I just mean the asthetics of good amount of dish on a 12" wheel.
