suspension upgrades
Hi, newbie here again! i want to pick your brains on the following:
i want to keep the original subframe of my 69 convertible but would like to upgrade as much as i can the suspension components,in your opinion what should i focus on the most? thx for your input. Yan |
Sway bar, coil overs with adjustable damping,if you want to do some cutting the guldstrand mod to the upper control arm mounts and then maybe tubular control arms in my opinion, rear if you want to lower it new leafs and adjustable shocks and sway bar.

ATS spindles will probably make the most difference..
That and the C5 brakes. |
Depends on if you want to modify the sub-frame or not. There are great bolt ons, as well as kits designed to work on a slightly modified frame.
DSE and ATS are the leaders in my mind when using a stock s/f. Both offer different levels of improvement over stock from bolt ons, to modified upper a-arm mounts that improve geometry and the ability to use a coilover shock. Hotchkis offers bolt on lowering kits that are an improvement over stock. This along with the Guldstrand mod is a nice setup for a pro-touring cruiser...if you want to go a little further, handeling wise, then the before mentioned companies are there for you! Really need more info on what your budget is and your plans for the car. |
Thx for the replies. Anthony, i dont have a budget limit but i want the best components. The one thing i know for sure is that the car wont see a track day. I want it to drive similar to my 05 V70 R handeling wise. this might be a bad comparason but a want it to look good and handle very well but i dont need a race car. I hope this clarify better what i want to do with the car.
Again thx for tacking the time to help me. Yan |
