Took my son on his first cruise today
He's almost 5 months old, I figured it was about time. My wife is out of town at a review session for her board exams, so I'm flying solo today. There is a cruise-in tonight so I thought today I'd see how he likes the Trans Am.
He LOVED it. We call him G-baby because he loves when we accelerate fast, or take turns fast, loves to swing high in his baby swing, etc. He's gonna be a little daredevil. So we're in my 98 TA and I'm so tall that my seat is all the way back and basically in the bac seat, and his car seat is so big that the passenger's seat is all the way up. We can see each other while I'm driving. He's just taking it all in, t-tops down, his fuzzy hair blowing in the wind, he's grinning and all. So I thought I'd punch it and get his reaction. I kick it hard up to the speed limit and look over at him, he looks up at me and grins and laughs. Oh yeah, he's hooked already. Took him for another cruiser later, but he was tired and fell asleep. How he could sleep with my longtubes, ORY, Spintech exhaust, stiff springs, and low profile tires on bumpy roads is beyond me. The rumbling must have soothed him right to sleep. |
Very cool!! It's easy to fall asleep when you feel right at home!!

Very cool. Back in the day a couple of mine, my middle son and Michael had colick (sp?) and whenever they got cranky we would just load up in whatever Hot Rod I had home that night, take them for a ride and they would shut right up and fall asleep! How perfect is that.
Treasure these days man, they we be gone tomorrow! |
My son had it too up until about 3 months old. I normally just threw him in the Trailblazer and took off, anything to make the crying stop! You know how it is!

That just makes me smile. So glad to hear it. Enjoy the journey

When my son was very little, he used to like to ride in The "Rot Rod", an old 68 Camaro with a 427/4 speed. I had him one day and we went riding. I took him to McDonalds. I got bored and we went to a parking lot so I could see if he would like doing donuts just for laughs.
Here is where the McDonalds thing becomes important. He loved the donuts. The McDonalds in his belly AND the Donuts, however, did not agree with each other. Invision, if you will, a 2 year old spinning about in the back seat of a 68 Camaro while strapped in his baby seat. Laughing and hollering and having a great time. Imagine then looking back in the rear view mirror in Horror as your young son projectile pukes as the centrifigal force lays his head back and he hurls on himself and the package tray of your car. It was in his hair and all in the corners of the package tray. I had to remove all the trim, the speakers, the board, all of it. I sold that car about two weeks later. I got a cat to take a dump in it to make it smell better before I sold it. I get to speak to my son now about twice a week while he is at College. Frank said it best, the days will disappear like dust in the wind, so enjoy them. |
Jim, when I was a kid I puked all over the back of my dad's 72 Chevelle. We laugh about it now, but I remember the look on his face still.
But it is like he says "it'll all be worth it when your son pukes all over the back of your nice musclecar." |
Well, we took him to a car show last night, his first one! We had to take the Trailblazer because all three of us won't fit in the TA.
He had a blast though! He loved looking at the cars and was smiling and laughing, even though it was late and his normal grumpy time. I think it may be time to sell the Park Avenue and get a more appropriate daily driver. |
I remember when my son was younger(10 now)and him riding in all my car's,I remember when we were riding in the mini van with my wife and she turned to look at him and he was throwing himself back in forth in his car seat, telling her to shift mommy,She came home and looked at me and said you been racing wth "MY" kid in the car,Looking off at her I said of course not honey. The car just shifts hard, with this look of like she knew I was full of ****,she you better not.hehehehehe

Last year when my son was 7 mos. old he hated the sound of my 69 Z28, I was at DSE's trailer at Columbus, OH (at 7 months) and the Texaco Havoline Nascar was right across from us...they fired it up...reved it up...and shut it off...he never made a sound...people from DSE thought he like the loud noise!! Now at 1 1/2 yaers he was in the Z today (with mini tubs bought at Columbus) and had a big grin on his face...after I did a little burnout....in the garage:D :D
