Hot Rod/Primedia Dream Build Drive DVD Library
I just recieved a DVD from the folks at Hot Rod & Primedia promoting their Dream Build Drive DVD Library, has anyone else recieved these with their subscription? You purchase each DVD if you elect to keep them once their sent to you. The first one I recieved was "Complete Bodywork & Sheetmetal Preparation". I haven't watched it yet so I don't know how good it is or if I'll keep purchasing them as they're sent to me. Just wanted to know if anyone else has been buying these and what they thought.

I got mine. Its not the greatest quality but I like it. It depends on what you are looking for. I'm going to have to replace my sheet metal and I'm no pro so I figure they will be great to keep and pull out to watch again and use as a reference when I get to that particular part on the car and/or if I get stuck. Watch the first one...I think its free, then you decide if you want to buy the others. They are all the same, just a different step in the restoration process.
For what its worth...thats my 2 cents. :) |
what do they run? I haven't got mine yet. Maybe today it's in the mailbox when I get home.

I have a couple  . I am going to school for autobody and have found them interesting, whether it is comparing techniques or stuff that I am not being taught. I wish my instructor would use them instead of the videos he has, I keep telling him that nobody cares how to fix a '89 Cutlass Ciera  .

Wow, interesting idea, kinda like a book club or the Columbia music club type of program. Could be a great thing if done well. Wish I'd have thought up that one. I'm the type that removes specific tech and feature articles from magazines and files those into topic sections in binders - so that when I get into something while designing/building my car I have a laundry list of ideas and info. If someone did something similar that would be nice. The 356 Porsche group has a monthly magazine - and they transferred all that into a searchable and categorized DVD. Very nice tool for those with lacking memory skills....

I can't argue with that one.

I watched mine yesterday.... pretty useless except the actual trunk/floorpan install. I'm a novice at that and a novice welder so I found it useful.
The rest was very basic...how to jack up a car ??? Come on..... The extra features were cool. Especially the Drag week stuff. I was impressed about the guys driving those drag cars so much on the street and the mileage they put on them. |
