chevy c10 question

im looking at a 85 chevy 1/2 ton 2wd here for sell.the question is can i use a 4L80E in it or do i need to make or find a tranny crossmember for that tranny.or anything else with a overdrive fit it.

That is my favorite body style of chevy trucks. I use to have one back in the day. Anyways, if the truck has an overdrive already, then any overdrive will work. I think the only one that will not fit is the 2004R.... any others are good to go. Good luck with the project!

yes, 4l80e will go right in.... i have one outa 91 burban(same bodystyle) hit me up if you need any swap parts, complete harness TBI/4l80e ecm, steering column, dash cluster(elec speedo drive for the 4l80e) in fact...i have everything except the 4l80e.... which is resting behind a cummins for my 1 ton crew cab shortwide 4x4 70 project.

The square body trucks are a big favorite of mine. Building on one right now,Glad to see them getting more respect these days

Love the square bodies. owned too. Most notably Project Red Rocker which I built back in 2004 and debut at Sema. Hill's hot Rods did all the work on it.

you can make anthing fit.all you need is a good imagination and some tools.:D good luck with whatever you decide to do.you have a mile of room underneath this one especially if it hade a manual tranny the center section unbolts from the inside.
