Built for Snap-On Tools , this totally customized vehicle will be a traveling ambassador for Snap-On, touring the country as a tribute to auto technicians everywhere. The name “Glo-Mad” was selected from thousands of entries submitted to Snap-On in a “Name the Car” contest. Dr. Neon (Alex Evans) was the project manager while the car was built at his facility in Asheville, North Carolina.

A host of expert customizers and sponsors lent their expertise to the project, including custom motorcycle builder Wink Eller, metal artist Pancho Clark, NHRA Top Fuel drag racer Doug Herbert, Lenny Schaeffer from Chop- Shop Customs, fabricator John Muldowney, and a team of PPG paint experts. An awesome crew, and an awesome, one-of-a-kind vehicle.

An extraordinary vehicle needs an extraordinary paint job, so Snap-On turned to PPG. The team developed a custom 3-stage white pearl and 3-stage red pearl formulated with PPG’s Deltron 2000 paint system that met Dr. Neon’s vision. Lenny Schaeffer and the staff from Chop-Shop Customs handled the prep, bodywork and paintwork for this noteworthy project.

What was built is a cutting-edge creation with an LS7 supercharged engine, custom wheels, a reconstructed floor, plus music, lights, a flat screen TV – the works. But in spite of all the modifications it’s still a classic street rod.

Some of the other outstanding modifications to the “Glo-Mad” include a power rear door with a polished steel Snap-On logo that light up when the vehicle’s brakes are applied. The power back gate opens to reveal a complete Snap-On toolbox outfitted with an LCD screen, which show videos of the car being built. The video was shot during the project, logging the progress of the restoration. :D
