Project SwingSet

I know it’s a truck but what can I say I’m from TexasJ This is my latest project, to start I had the digital man himself (Carter Hickman) do me a rendering to get the ball rolling…. I then had a custom C4 chassis built by Porterbuilt Street Rods, it runs Shockwaves at all four corners and the rear is cantilevered. I had the opportunity to talk with Rick and Hector from Rick’s Rod Shop at the GG show this weekend and they will be constructing a tank for me (super nice guys). I will be running 20/22 Intros if I ever get that far (it seems so far away right now). I have a 6.0 and 4L80e that will get a fresh set of heads and some sort of intake/induction system (not real sure yet). I work out of a shop in the Dallas area called Stoked Out Specialties and this is where all the fabrication, bodywork, paint and interior will take place. We have a lot of little body mods planned for the truck but I will not bore you with the details, let me know what you think.

Welcome fellow 67-72 truck board member. There is a truck section here to post trucks. There are some other killer trucks being built here, so you will fit in well. Nathan Porter also recently joined here as well.

Damn that's gonna be a sick @ss truck! I had a 68 C/20 that I loved, except it was a long box. If it was a shorty I would've kept it for sure. I can't wait to see how yours comes out.

One of the greatest style of trucks around ... my grandpa had one and it got nipped three times by trains as he tried to beat them across the tracks .. truck was a go'er and besides long cuts/dents along the box it kept going - I love'd the truck. Yours is going to be awsome. Hey where did the name for the project come from ... ? Any story behind it?

Second question - who did the chassis .. did you or was there a shop used.

Third question - the chassis looks so cool .. do you plan to keep it exposed or are you laying down wood/metal in the bed? Such a cool chassis to cover up (with trucks you have more options to view it)

DHARROD hope this answers your questions….

The name….sorta a long story but here’s the short version. I was originally going to use a custom bolt in cross member on the stock frame that’s made by Nathan @ PorterBuilt Street Rods. Well I was telling this younger fabricator we had working for us at the time (notice I said “at the time”) about the cross member and how it works when he turns to me and tells me that anything that bolts in is not custom and I might as well be assembling a swing set in the back yard…..the name stuck.

So with that said I thought I would show this punk just how stupid I really was and called Nathan and told him to build the whole chassis. I have done a lot of fabrication work, I have the facility and chassis table to build it and my family also owns a steel company but I know that I could not build it this nice for the amount of money that it cost me. There is a time when you have to factor in the dollars and cents of a decision and this was a no brainier.

I plan on making all new inner panels for the bed that will show case the cantilever set up. I’m also working with another company to make the cantilevers out of billet to add a little more bright work to the rear of the bed.
