Recommendation for Project Insurance

Can anyone tell me who insures protoured project cars - cars that won't be driven for a couple of years as they are being built? I've checked into Haggarty. It seems these places primarily insure only cars that are complete and drivable.

Thanks,
Shawn

These guys did mine during and after. Contact Laurie Dowling at Town and Country insurance. Super rates and killer service.

Hagerty covered mine while it was under construction. You should check again.

With Grundy World Wide all I kept doing was increasing the agreed value; we never discussed if it would be driven, only that it wasn't my main transportation, it would be used in appropriate situations (ex. accidents at a track wouldn't be covered) and it would be in an enclosed building. They don't know how much you will or won't drive it so the fact you say you won't drive it really doesn't matter - just get an agreed value policy and update it. Also I've been told that some homeowners or building insurance will cover it as a specific asset (once again you have to keep updating the policy as it nears completion to reflect the value, they often require appraisals- museums do this under overall coverage and they'll itemize a particular cars value).

My customers have had good experiences with Grundy.
I ALWAYS advise them to get min. coverage before its dropped off to me. If its from scratch, start at $5k (as long as the car looks like a complete car). As work progresses, pictures are sent and an "agreed" value is obtained untill completion (usually takes 4 times in 10-15k increments).
Only once was a car initially turned down because the pics showed no headlights or windshield. After an explaination, they agreed to cover the min. $5,000.
Most Classic car insurance carriers understand the "restoration" or "build" proceedure.

Directly from there site ... I just bumped up my project coverage by 9K to reflect the value/materials now in it.

"Restorer and Builder Insurance
Grundy Introduces the Breakthrough Insurance Policy, Protecting Classic Car Restorers and Custom Builder Businesses and Their Customers' Vehicles.
Grundy Worldwide has been contacted, for years, by restorers and builders who are fearful that they may be held liable by the insurers of the owners of the cars on which they are working. To address these concerns, Grundy has now formed an all-risk, direct primary coverage program that protects not only the interest of the restorers and builders, but the interest of the car owners, too.

R&B Policies Include:
Garagekeeper’s Liability
Cars Being Restored
Vehicles Under Construction
Tools and Equipment
Commercial Auto
Agreed Value
Building and Contents
