Backspacing -70 Chevelle

Hi all.
I'm trying to get a simpel yes or no answer on this questione: I want to use the Coys C5 18x8 with 5,5" bs, will theese fit?
If not, could some one please tell me the right BackSpacing for my Velle?

I've tried to find this out my self, but there are no conversion table from inch to mm that I could find.... Please help a lost Norwegian fool here

Are you using 18 x 8 on all 4 corners? What size tires are you planning to use also?

I would use 4.5" bs instead.

18x8 with a 4.75 would be better. If a 10" on the rear, 5.75-6". You should really order custom built wheels.... we can help! Call....

Coys only offers a 18x8 in 4.00 or 4.50 B/S. on a 70 you can run the C-5 in a 18x9.5 with a 5.00 B/S Good luck with your purchase.

Ahhhh....finally a clear answer :)
I'm going to use 18x8 on all four, and I think I'll run them on 265/40/18.
DriverzInc : Do you send over "the pond"? What would the prize be on a custom wheel setup?

With an 8" wheel I would go with 4" backspacing. There will still be PLENTY of room. Any more backspacing and the wheels will look very "sucked in." Regardless of backspacing 8" wheels on a 70 Chevelle are going to look small all the way around. 9.5" up front and 11" out back fit easily and fill things out much more nicely. You could also run 9.5" all the way around if you wanted.

FYI, 9-10.5" is the manufacturer's wheel width specs for a 265/40/18 tire... so it would not be recommended to put them on an 8" wheel.

i belive with a 8 inch wide wheel the proper backspacing is 4.5"

1 inch = 25.4mm, in case you want to double-check your numbers. :)

I ran 17 x 8 with 4.75" backspace for a while and the wheels were WAY too sucked in. With my new 17 x 9.5" up front which have 5.5" of backspacing that puts the outside lip of the wheel & tire at the same point a 17 x 8" with 4" of backspacing would put it... still plenty of room. They fit on the rear with no issues either.

All good advice but a 4" b/s on an 8" wide wheel will push the tires too much into the fenders.I bought that same set-up from a friend who mis-ordered them for his '69 Camaro and they are too close to the fenders for my tastes.I am really looking for something wider so I may sell these and upgrade to 9.5" fronts & 11" rears:

Same car with 18/20's...think I'm selling those too:
