How would this tire combo look?
Car is a 1972 Road Runner putting 14" brakes front and 13" brakes rear.
Moving the rear leafs in 1 1/4" per side. I started my tire selection based on tire diameter and width second Front diameter 27" width 9 to 10" Rear diameter 28" width 11 to 12" So in BF Goodrich KDW I found the following: 255/45ZR18 for the front that is a perfect fit at 10" wide and 27" tall or 255/40ZR19 10.2" wide 27.1" tall The rear tire is where the problems come in. Closest match I can find is either: 275/35ZR20 10.9" wide 27.6 " tall or this would look like a truck tire unless it was tucked into the well good: 295/40ZR20 12" wide 29.5" tall Based on the above options I would guess the best look would be from the 255/40ZR19's front and the 275/35ZR20's out back Could a 295/40ZR20 at 12" wide and 29.5" tall ever fit into this kind of car and made to look like it should and not atruck with leaf springs in the rear and not tubbed with a 4 link ? Thanks in advance for the help I need to figure out the tires first then I can pick a rear end width and gear ratio. |
The 19s and 20s would look killer on that car but I don't know the limits of the wheelhouses. [email protected] , however owns one and has made all kinds of measurements in those wheelwells and can probably tell you exactly what will fit. He posts here all the time by the screen name Driverz Inc and has posted pictures of his car on here recently so hit him up.

I sent you a PM. The 295/40/20 Is a great tire on a 20x10 but you'll have to tuck it up with suspension and fender modifcations. These cars take a lot of wheel and tire in the back. Check your PM and we can go over all the fitment information for your car.
I think this wheel here would look killer on that car: http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9..._Polished2.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9...2_Polished.jpg |
Having second thoughts on the 295/40/20 in the back
I see that Michelin makes the Pilot Cup in a 345/30ZR19 For the front it would be 275/35ZR18 It looks like I can fit the 345/30ZR19's out back with a move of the rear springs. Tubs might be big enough from the factory. |
