To sell or not to sell.......

I was at a local show yesterday and had a guy ohhh and ahhh over my car, and we got talking and he ended up asking if the car is for sale. It isn't, but my response was "everything is for sale for the right amount of money". He then asked what I would have to have to get rid of it, so I threw out a rediculous number ($55k :unibrow: ) And then he proceeds to try and talk me into selling it. Before he walked away, his offer was up to $48k.

I don't know what to do, sell it or keep it???? I have so much of my blood and sweat in the car as well as a lot of sentimental value because my dad and I built the car as a father and son project. What would you guys do?

was there ever a project that your father had always wanted to do but never could? if so then maybe work the guy up to an even 50 and build the car your father wanted to build...just an idea...i can definately understand not wanting to sell though

My first thought is don't sell it.

Second thought, could you build your next project for 50k and or will the cash help you get ahead to a point that in the near future you could build another project...keeping in mind that the value of these cars go up every year!

Third thought, is your dad still with us and can help on another project? If not, don't sell it!!

The money is VERY tempting! This is the exact reason I put my wife on the title as a co-owner of the Camaro and told her to never let me sell it...unless we HAD to for finacial reasons. My car is going to my son...when the time comes!

First make sure the guy is for real. Some like to through imaginary money around.

If he's for rear, at that price, sell.

i am in the same situation as you with my 69ss pt project not even done and they are trying to buy it but it was my dads and lil brothers car befor they passed away i am doing the car the way my dad wanted and it will never and i mean never be sold .it's in my will to be passed on to my sister when i'm gone and if you knew my sister you would know she feels the same way . i look at things different than most because money isn't everything

I regret selling my Grand Sport... every day! :(

Well I spoke with the guy this morning and we both decided it was not in our best interest to make the sale. Guess I will continuing enjoying my car! :D After this weekend, it is now the only lady I have in my life!

Me too...

And I just hope I don't get some goofy offer on my car at SEMA, I REALLY don't want to sell, but it's somewhat foolish to turn down a good profit on any car (since they are not normally a "profit" sort of deal).

Just set a price that would allow you to build another car and bank some $$$. If you don't get that high price then just enjoy your car. Oh, and when figuring that price don't forget to add in all your personal time spent on the car.

Unless a car has irreplaceable sentimental value I would consider selling at any price that is as Steve said "Goofy".
Another consideration/concern is the down time of not having a car to enjoy..
I have been there and done that and it is no fun:(

I think not selling was a good move!

Mine is never leaving...
