Tips on spraying Dark metallic

Hey guys,
Im going to be spraying a truck pretty soon in a dark blue metallic (bc/cc)and was wondering what tips you could give me for spraying a dark colord metallic. I have been painting for a couple of years (on the side for friends) and have done some lighter metallic paint jobs that turned out good, but iam a little nervous about spraying such a dark colored metallic over a light grey primer.I did a hood with a similair color and it came out sort of light and you could see some of the spray lines. Ive heard you should shoot in a different directions to keep the metallic even and not cause lines, and also to lay down a final "mist coat" to even out the metallic, is that right? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys,
Brian

use a good quality gun with a 1.3 or 1.4 tip have it adjusted for full fluid (so trigger almost touches handle when pulled all the way) have fan set to full, and spray light to medium coats with 75% overlap, i would rather do 3-4 light to medium coats then 2 heavy, todays pearls, metallics lay out nice, you should have no trouble, also when you start on a panel say the hood, do the entire hood then go around vehicle don't start in middle of hood then work around and finish in middle of hood, by the time you get around the base coat on the hood has already tacked and will not melt in.

same as above... check your spray pattern and keep a good overlap.. and better to do one to many coats than one to few.. there is nothing worse than seing primer shine through.. you can also tint your primer/sealer.. that way the color comes out the way it was intended

tinting primer/sealer

A novice question. How do you tint the primer/sealer?

i just asked the paint supplier to tint the sealer to sorta-match...
