first gen 275/18 on a 18x9
will this fit on the front with stock sub-frame or am I dreaming??-Chris
thanks for all the response..the reason I was asking is because of this KILLER set of Budniks over on LS1 tech...but I'm going to hold out for a set of Rushforths somebody needs to pick up these wheels..I don't know the guy but they seem like a sweet deal-Chris http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8121229 |
It'll fit, but the tire will rub the frame at full lock, thus effecting turning radius.
You'll probably want around 5.5" of backspacing. And this much bs will cause the wheel to hit the steering arm, unless you're running a short steering arm. I know it will hit with a 17" wheel, not sure on a 18". Find CarlC's over on pt.com, and find his website. He's running 17x9.5 with a 275. |
Not only that but a 275 will have a bit of a pinched-in look on a 9" rim...

I am running a 275/18/35 on a 9 inch rim and it fit perfict it does not pinch in at all. I guess it will depend on what tire you are using. I am running Kumos and I love them.

IŽd go with 255-tire on 9" rim!

We're working on squeezing some Toyo R888 255/35-18's on the front of the '67 now; as Steve can attest, these thing's don't measure much like 255's. We just started playing with the mount mate last night but at 5.5" BS we are nowhere near the subframe at full lock although we are really tight to the Baer Tracker hardware. Likewise with 5.75" BS although we just started looking at that when we decided to call it a night. We'll see what happens over the next couple of days.

I had a 255/40 Nitto 555 on an 17x8" wheel with 5.25" backspacing on my old '68. It rubbed the frame at full lock.
