335 on the front

Hey guys, I was just wondering if you like the look of this is pushing the tire size thing a little to far. I put my rear wheel on the front just to see what it looks like right now I am undecided. Right now I have 12 in rear wheels with 335 mounted. The rims are way to wide to get any kind of turning radius they hit the apron of the uca. The front end is designed for a 10.5-inch rim I was originally planning on 295 for street use and mostly for look and a much more conservative 275 for the track. Now am thinking I may go with a 315 in the front just for street. I am just looking for some suggestions on what you think will look the best for the street. Keep in mind that this is going to be track raced car as much as I can/afford.

Looks like Big Red. :D

It sounds like you know what you want for a track setup, so basically for a street setup, it's purely for looks. A 335 up front would be completely over the top. Radical. Personally, I'd go with the 315 on the 10.5" wheel.

I would think anything over 10" on the front would be overkill. I am planning on 9.5 or 10's up front. I start to get concerned myself especially with handling on wet pavement. Big tires become skis very quickly. You may not plan to drive in the rain, but more than likely you will get caught in it. I plan to drive the crap out of my car and I know I will get caught somewhere on a trip.

There has to be a point of diminishing return somewhere for race application. Vehicle weight is something to be considered as well. Lighter car will turn just as well on narrower wheels. Narrower wheels equals more speed in the straight away due to less friction. Wider wheels require more turning radius. Very wide wheels require power steering coolers, more friction, more heat, harder to package. I was talking to Marcus at SC&C the other day and he brought up a good point. A stock C5 vette with race tires will pull right at 1G on 245's up front.

For street, all the wide front and rear tires end up mostly as awe factor. I can see the reasons for the wide rear tires with people putting 500-1000 hp motors in street driven cars. I know, I know, I am the pot calling the kettle black here with me putting 345 19's on the rear of my car! In the end it boils down to personal preference and taste and go do what makes you happy! Oh the decisions! :willy:

Go with the 315!!!!!!

If I had the clearance, I'd do the 315 as well. Still a kick-ass combo, but not overkill. You don't want to be doing ten point turns everywhere you go. :D

I have 275's on the front and it looks great.. anything bigger like a 315 or 335 would be crazy big.. imagine all them rocks hitting your lower fenders.. :willy:

I would consider some Xpel...

Steve do you have a good picture that is low to the ground showing the tire. As far as rock chips I could care less I really don’t care that much about paint I not even going to put clear on the car just a signal stage because it is cheaper and easier to do you self.

Thanks for the suggestions I am just look for every one opinions. One other thing I for got to mention and earlier is that I plan to run 18s in the front and 17 s in the rear most people probably wont like it, but my car is more function over form the 18s will give better turn in characteristics and clear the 14 inch brakes and the 17s in the rear will give me more side wall and hopefully help with better traction and ride quality.

It looks goofy.
