Early A body convertible tops.
Manual convertible tops it seem like are hard to come by for the early A-bodies. I would love to get rid of my power top and if anyone has a manual top frame they would like to trade for a power let me know. I live in nor cal and can drive all the way to san diego if needed.
does anyone have any idea's on who would have one |
I've been told that making my Nova manual top a power top would require a power frame because they're different. Haven't looked into it so I don't know if that is true. Do you know whether or not you have to change to a manual top frame to make it manual. I always thought disconnecting the hydraulic cylinders and removing the lines would just make it a manual top. Sorry this doesn't really help, it just sparked a nerve about my top and thought I would ask. Love your buildup though.

i had a 63 chevy impala drop top and i had a leak so i just unhooked the lines and cly. it then worked great as a manual top

I tried that and the top doesnt work worth a damn unless you have two people. It binds on one side or the other. |
I've got a manual top, possible trade?
I have a '64 Chevelle/Malibu with a manual top-likely would trade for the power top assembly if OEM

As far as I know (and I may be very wrong) the manual top was the same, but with the addition of 2 spring loaded cylinders and two hold-down clips.
