I visit almost daily........dont post much because I'm building a mopar A-body (Dodge Demon), not much mopar stuff here..

Why I come here??.....I love the ongoing projects of the members, the insight from the "professional" builders is why I come here. Oh yeah and Im a closet 69 Camaro fan.

Well, I think your project looks cool. You should post more about it, and keep us updated!

I used to be very active on a Datsun 510 mailing list, got burned out by the "static" and even the club activities. I have been accumulating tools and parts for years, and now have Lincoln Mig and Tig machines, torches, Esab plasma, Southbend 9" lathe, drill press, 10K in Snap On crammed in my little 2 car garage. I'm building a 1971 Datsun 521 pickup (I know, not very Pro Touring) with a '89 240SX motor, a 5 speed out of a '85 Pickup, converted the front control arms to accept ball joints (as opposed to the original king pins) and vented disc brakes (as opposed to drums). I bought a NLA Detroit locker off eBay and went to taller 3.90's (original was 4.375) in the rear. I couldn't afford airbags, and didn't want the boucy ride, so I moved the rear leafs inboard and up 4" in the frame rails, in the front I need to raise the upper shock mounts 4" and crank the torsion bars to drop it. The body and bed are off the frame in primer, I'm planning to mock the truck up 100% and drive it primered for a while to work out all the bugs, then blow it apart for paint.

I lurk for the build pictures and cutting edge ideas and solutions. Someday I may build a Pro Touring/G Machine car. I'm a "weird combo" guy, so it definitely will not be a Camaro or Mustang, and I like smaller cars, so something like a '65 Valiant post car with Nascar suspension, black 16x9" steel wheels with 245/45 R compound rubber all around, and a twin turbo currrent Hemi with a Keisler 6 speed conversion is my speed. Full cage and vintage race seats like a Porsche 911ST and I'd go GT350 hunting at Shelby club events.

I do all my own work, everything except internal machine work. Haven't done upholstry yet, but I will. I have been working on other peoples cars for the last 10 years in my spare time while working a full-time day job and raising 3 girls, but I'm almost "there" to be able to finish building something for myself. After the truck, my 510 is next (turbo SR, cage, AC, power windows, road race suspension, 5" ride height) and then who knows?

I'm a bit of a lurker, really enjoy reading the forum and have learned quite a bit, I visit every few days. I do have a few posts to my name, but not very many. If I feel I have something of value to contribute I'll post it, otherwise I'm pretty quiet. My project is more of a stock appearing restoration, or a mild resto-mod, I suppose you could call it, not really on the same level as most of them on here, although there are some pro-touring type aspects to it, global west sfc's & bushings, hotchkis springs & sway bar, Bilstein shocks, etc. Eventually I'd like to get some 17" V45's I hope and perhaps the SC&C stage 1 or 2 kit with the Howe tall ball joints and upper a-arms, larger brakes, TKO-600, etc.... if I can ever afford that stuff - the car still has to be finished and on the road in it's current state before I start upgrading.... there's lots of pics in my sig.... back to "lurk" mode....

Just another chevy guy lurking here, but I don't post much. I come by regularly because I'm in complete awe of some of your projects and love seeing the updates. :bow: I also like getting ideas for my cars from all of the great builders/designers here. Planning my project on paper is rewarding, even if work and family delay the wrench turning and ultimate result a bit longer.

Currently, my small, overpriced California townhouse's garage is occupied by a 68 Camaro and a 70 Chevelle. The Chevelle is a solid California car and mostly stock. While I'd love to go all out with it, my Camaro takes priority, so eventually, the Chevelle will get a simple restoration with fresh paint, interior, and some suspension/brake upgrades. Then it will serve weekend cruiser duty.

The Camaro was my daily driver through college and has been a project of mine longer than the Chevelle. I graduated college in '02 and started my career as a police officer, so car time has been hard to come by with all the shift work and overtime. Nonetheless, I have detailed plans for the Camaro and I'll continue to take steps toward that ultimate goal. In the meantime, my plans keep evolving as I see newer and better ideas I'd like to incorporate into the build. For now, I'll go the g-machine route with a carb'd LS engine, TKO600, upgraded suspension, brakes, and other tidbits underneath (Tyler, I anticipate a lot of my overtime money heading your way :D ). For the outside, I'll probably keep it mild, with some some classic trans-am styling cues and a killer stance.

Anyway, thanks for a great site... I'll try to contribute more as my projects roll on! :thumbsup:
