Intercooler ideas
 

I need some ideas and pics for an intercooler set up for a 69 camaro with RS headlights. It is tighter than I thought it would be up there with the headlight doors and the turn signal lights sticking way out. It is a twin turbo smallblock.

The Ron Davis radiator one will clear everything, but the light covers cannot open fully. Not an issue as with decent lights you can't even tell the covers are closed, lights work great.

If you want the doors to be able to open it will take a small intercooler to clear, which would likely be more restrictive and power-robbing than no intercooler at all.

If you had the room to remotely mount it somewhere else other than behind the grill you might get something to work. Or go to water/air which allows a much smaller intercooler.

Jody,

What are those lights in the lower valance, and are they shorter than the stock ones? My stock lights are very long on the back side.

you could use a chemical intercooler. Then all you would have to mount is a tank, pump and some lines.

I use 50/50 Water Methanol. You could actually increase boost response withouth the physical intercooler.

Exactly what I was going to say. water/alky works great, even in place of an intercooler, especially when you can't fit the one you need.

For turbos and the best protection you would want a progressive system form the likes of CoolingMist.com, Devil's Own, Alky-control, etc. Then you add more water / alky as the boost comes on.

ya, the controllers are awesome. I will be tieing mine into my MoTeC.

Also, if you are not using a physical intercooler, it is wise to install a presure sensor. That way you will know if there is a block in the line, or a failure somewhere.
