Running the Boston Marathon for charity, need support!
Hi Guys,
This April I am going to be running the Boston Marathon, I figured it would be a good way to round out my senior year here. I have never run a marathon before, but I love a challenge. I am entered as a charity runner in order to get into the race. I am running for the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. I know its not the big names like Jimmy Fund or Dana Farber, but it is a worth cause and a major organization. To be entered as a charity runner you need to raise a minimum of $3,000! And I am committed to doing so, otherwise it comes out of my own pocket. So I am hoping that I might find some support for the run here on Lateral-G! If you want to donate to my run just go to my site, http://www.firstgiving.com/timothylawlor The money goes straight to MEEI and I don't touch it at all, I have designated most of it goes to research into blindness diseases and into patient care for all disorders. Thanks Guys!!! Tim |
You know the first guy that did one of those died at the end, right? :lolhit:

Haha! Thanks for the vote of confidence!
But seriously, I appreciate the donation a ton!!! Tim |
Any other takers? Charity? Runners?
I am slightly shameless only because if I can't raise the money it gets charged to my Credit Card! And you wouldn't believe how cheap all my college student friends are! Thanks! Tim |

Yup, that link at the top goes to my page, I don't see or touch any money, it goes straight to the charity itself! http://www.firstgiving.com/timothylawlor Thanks, Tim |

Thanks for the bump! And sorry I didn't get some better info to you for the newsletter. I realized most pictures of me with the car are at home and I have been up at school and then got hurt and feared the marathon was in jeopardy.
I was injured in late Febuary and thought it may have been a stress fracture in my left leg. Just brutal to run...BUT I have pushed through it and go in a couple 20+ mile runs. My left leg will swell up about twice my right in the early miles in intense pain, but subsides after about 3-4 miles and I can get back on track. My front shin musles are overstrained and essential just put the weight onto my calves instead and then I can run fine, but calves get sore later. However, I Should be good to go in a couple weeks! I am going to get a 15 miler in this week and then tapper off before the actual race. I AM STILL SHORT OF MY MINIMUM FUNDRAISING!! It is a lot harder then it seems haha! With the addition of off-line donations I am about $1000 short of the minimum and need to make $3000! I am a college kid haha! I really don't enjoy the thought of having to pay over $1000 myself for this! Help would be great! Just to get an idea what I have done in costs and in training so you don't think I am just asking everyone for money and not contributing myself. 3 pairs of running shoes: $420 (They can only take so much mileage) Enterance Fee to Boston Marathon: $200 Charity Fee: $100 Physical Therapy for March: $260 Running Clothes: $200 (Under Armour is not cheap!) All to just run hahaha! :willy: So PLEASEEE HELP out a fellow car guy and runner! http://www.firstgiving.com/timothylawlor Thanks! Tim |
Thanks for the sticky Scott!
Anyone? Charity? Tax Deduction? Please?! Tim |
Thanks Monza!
I got informed by another member that the firstgiving website might be giving people some problems. I talked to my charity coordinator about it and hopefully the website doesn't keep doing this, but if you have had problems I am sorry. Just keep trying! www.firstgiving.com/timothylawlor Tim |
