The best deal at Barrett Jackson this year was?
This was, in my opinion, the BEST deal at BJ this year.. When first built the owner had $250k into this car. Recently the engine was messed with and the fuel injected HEMI was made to run perfect. He also redid the interion and now it's top shelf. There's a $9,000 Heits chromed out IRS rear suspension, a very expension paddle shifted Bowler transmission and the mentioned fuel-injected HEMI. Three piece Kinesis wheels, big brakes, custom CF spoilers that I heard cost $20k to have made. Lots of $$$ in custom emblems..
It wouldn't start when it went over the block and I think that killed it since people went "What's wrong with it!!!" Later one of the BJ employees told us that he drove the car and it was by far one of the nicest, most fun, cars he had driven at the event. That dead batter cost the owner a LOT of money. But it was a great day for the car's new owner, Yancy... he scored a $300k car for $51k ($56k with the fees). Now one could argue that the guy who bought Bob's car got a better deal.. but if you think about it that guy paid about .60 cents on the dollar. Yancy got the Dart for about .20 cents on the dollar! Beat that! And here is the new owner who's still smiling.. even though his wife is going "WTF is a Dart!?!" lol http://picsorban.com/upload/poison1.jpg Engine bay: http://picsorban.com/upload/poison2.jpg Brand new interior: http://picsorban.com/upload/poison3.jpg |
Absolute best deal
Steve,
I completely agree. I was blown away when I saw the hammer drop at 51K. I was telling my girlfriend I knew about this car and that I thought it was a 200K build. My guess was that it was going to go for about 100K. WOW...what a deal. Before this BJ auction most of my BJ auction memories were based on folks paying too (too) much for cars. Not this time. What a steal. Do we know hoe the seller and\or builder feels? Chris |
I agree with you 100%. I saw some, as they call it..."well bought" cars this year.
BJ usually love Hemi cars.. |
Holy crap is that interior soooooooooo much better than the original. Much cleaner. That car is alot more appealing. I'm totally jealous. I've loved that car since the beginning. Hope to see it out on the Power Tour and year one.

Wow! putting 300K into...a Dart!
Great looking car! We certainly do live in interesting times!!! |
I was floored when this only did 51k. If I had went this year I would have picked it up. That's a killer car and would have found something to sell to have that car at that price. This does sort of scare me about my own car, and this is a reason why I would never sell at BJ. I would be crying if I was the old owner. But Yancy is smiling ear to ear.

Wish I was there...........i would've been bidding at that price
|
That is a steal!
But I was floored when i seen Denny Terzichs 61 Starliner go for 150K oh my what a stealllllll of a deal if any doubts pick up the build book made of it an amazing build that summit sponsored and really got cleaned at the block and some lucky guy bought a custom built from scratch Hot Rod amazing the risk these guys go through, and seems it really is risky with these custom cars compared to the number matching low vin number rides great thread by the way ! |
DAMN good deal at that price. Now the real question is, what are the seller's thoughts on this?

He posted on PT.com... I'm sure he's upset since he was hoping for something like $125k or more.. But that's the risk of the no reserve deal and why you will never get deals like this at Russo Steele The car not starting.. and having it announced that it won't start.. hurt the bidding bad IMO. |
