chassis dyno thriller

This is on several sites now. The car made 1200 HP at the tires, but this is the first video I've seen of it.

That's the one at Car Craft

It belongs to a friend of a friend... I was over talking to this friend of mine and he said he had to go watch his buddy's Model A run the chassis dyno... I didn't get a chance to see it, but I heard it was wild. People running everywhere :willy: ...could have ended horribly :_paranoid

The dyno operator had quick feet! He got on the brake just in time. It's a good thing it wasn't the type of dyno that you drive forward onto. On those the front wheels are close to the edge. It would have launched!

Yep, that dude was lucky indeed. Could've been a catastrophe of enormous proportions.

I might be more afraid of the owner of the car than anything else! But its gotta be a nice story to have.

"Yahh, well my car is soooo powerful it broke the dyno!"

I worked at a chassis dyno facility for years and can tell you the driver of the car saved the car not the dyno operator, it takes a while to get the roller to stop. I bet the car was stopped at the edge of the dyno and the rollers were still rolling to a stop.

In many cases (most from what I've seen) the dyno operator and person driving the car are one in the same. I think the guys meant the car driver was the one who saved it; once that car is off the roller stopping the roller doesn't help stop the car at all.
